Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive an indication of whether to use uplink reference signals or downlink reference signals for uplink precoder determination. The UE may selectively transmit a plurality of uplink reference signals or one or more measurement reports based at least in part on the indication, wherein the one or more measurement reports are determined based at least in part on measuring a plurality of downlink reference signals. The UE may receive an indication of a precoder, of a plurality of precoders, to be used to precode an uplink communication, wherein the precoder is identified based at least in part on the plurality of uplink reference signals or the one or more measurement reports. The UE may precode the uplink communication using the precoder. Numerous other aspects are provided.

The UE may report whether the UE is capable of combining the NRS with another signal to determine a combined signal quality parameter, and may report the combined signal quality parameter to a base station.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that support discontinuous scheduling. A base station may transmit, to a user equipment (UE), a grant of resources of a communication channel over a multiple of aggregated TTIs. The UE may monitor a control channel for the grant of resources transmitted by base station. The base station and the UE may identify a location of an excluded TTI within the plurality of aggregated TTIs. The excluded TTI may correspond to a TTI for communicating synchronization signals, random access channel (RACH) signals, or the like. The base station may communicate with the UE via the resources of the communication channel over at least a subset of the aggregated TTIs based on the grant and the location of the excluded TTI.

The wireless communication device may determine the uplink channel transmit power for the plurality of uplink beam-pairs based at least in part on the plurality of TPC commands. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) and a base station may establish narrowband communications. The base station may configure positioning reference signal (PRS) resources based at least in part on wideband or narrowband transmissions, and a UE may receive the PRS transmissions over one or more narrowband regions. The UE, may determine PRS resources and receive portions of wideband PRS transmissions that are transmitted in one or more narrowband regions of the system bandwidth. The base station may configure PRS resources separately for narrowband devices, such as according to a bandwidth of the narrowband devices or with a single PRS tone per symbol compared to two PRS tones per symbol that may be used for wideband PRS transmissions. The base station may perform positioning measurements for a UE based at least in part on timing of uplink transmissions from the UE.

Abstract: Techniques described herein use a wakeup signal to indicate to a user equipment (UE) whether an upcoming control channel signal resource includes information relevant to the UE. In this way, the UE can wake up to perform complex control channel signal processing only when the control channel includes signals relevant to the UE, thereby conserving battery power and resources of the UE. Such techniques are particularly suited to MTC UEs, NB-IoT UEs, and/or the like, which may communicate with a network only occasionally, and which may be located in remote locations where changing or recharging a battery is difficult.

Abstract: A method of wireless communication by a user equipment includes determining an allocation of a set of tones in a symbol for conveying data. The method further includes determining to use m-ary phase shift keying (MPSK) to modulate the data onto a subset of tones of the set of tones. The method further includes modulating the data onto the subset of tones based on a mapping, wherein the mapping maps pairs of data values with a largest Hamming distance from each other to pairs of constellation points with a maximum Euclidean distance from each other.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In aspects of the present disclosure, a user equipment (UE) may report metrics (e.g., received signal power, beam identifier) about synchronization signal (SS) beams using the same (e.g., or a similar) framework that is used for channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) reporting. Because SSs are intended to be broadcast across a wide coverage area in a beamformed manner, the SSs represent a promising complement to existing beam management techniques. Accordingly, beam management may be achieved at least in part based on reporting one or more metrics of beamformed SSs through a channel feedback framework.
