Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may be a UE. The UE determines whether the UE is located within a sub-region of an MBSFN area based on one or more parameters. The UE receives based on the determination a service over broadcast in the sub-region of the MBSFN area or over unicast outside the sub-region. In an aspect, the MBSFN area may be smaller than a unicast area. In an aspect, adaptive retransmission with a group NACK approach may be used to improve an SNR and reliability.

Abstract: A device may support communication without a radio link control (RLC) layer, which may include receiving a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) service data units (SDUs) for multiple radio bearers at a PDCP layer. The multiple radio bearers may have different reliability or delay targets, and a reordering procedure at the PDCP layer may be conducted on the different radio bearers. The reordering procedure may be a same reordering procedure for each of the radio bearers, with one or more parameters that may be adjusted based on one or both of the reliability target or delay target of the radio bearer.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for evolved multimedia broadcast multicast service (eMBMS) utilizing enhanced component carriers (eCCs). A wireless system may send unicast data using resources allocated for multicast transmissions (e.g., eMBMS transmissions). The presence of unicast data in a transmission time interval (TTI) scheduled for multicast transmission may be indicated by a control region within the TTI. A UE may monitor the control region to identify the presence of unicast information. A TTI scheduled for multicast transmission may also include reference signals to aid in the demodulation of multicast or unicast data. In some cases, the reference signals may be front-loaded at the beginning or embedded within the TTI. The embedded reference signals may be configured based on the type of data carried by the TTI scheduled for multicast transmission, or by length of the cyclic prefix used by the TTI scheduled for multicast transmission.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for a system that supports wireless communication with a first set of devices using a first OFDM symbol duration associated with a first tone spacing (i.e., a first physical layer (PHY) configuration) and second set of devices using a PHY configuration associated with a second tone spacing. A base station may transmit a set of discovery reference signals (DRS) in a narrowband region of a primary channel of a carrier. The DRS may have the first PHY configuration and a secondary channel of the carrier may support communications using the second PHY configuration. The base station may transmit a first system information (SI) message for one set of devices using the first PHY configuration, and it may transmit a second SI message for another set of devices using the second PHY configuration.

Abstract: Systems and methods for control and triggering of machine to machine (M2M) devices (e.g., smart meters). More specifically how to allow an M2M service provider (e.g., utility company) to use an operator's network to communicate with the M2M device connected with a UE/GW associated with the operator's network. The M2M service provider may receive identification of the UE/GW, but not for the M2M device. By transmitting an identifier for the M2M device along with an identifier for the UE/GW, the network operator may define establish and maintain a communication path specific to M2M devices. Similar techniques may be incorporated to allow the M2M service provider to locate and trigger the M2M device.

Abstract: Neutral host networks may offer one or more different services via one or more different service providers, but user equipment (UE) may not necessarily know which services/service providers are offered by the neutral host networks. Accordingly, nodes of the neutral host networks (e.g., an access point, such as an evolved Node B (eNB)) may transmit service discovery information (SDI) to advertise the one or more services or service providers offered by the node and/or the neutral host network. Thus, a UE can receive the SDI via broadcast by the node, dedicated message from the node, etc., and can accordingly present at least a portion of the SDI or determine whether to connect to the node or another node of the neutral host network based at least in part on the SDI.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive data from both a source base station and a target base station during handover. For example, the UE may refrain from resetting or reestablishing media access control (MAC) and packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer configurations until after a successful access procedure is performed with the target base station. In some cases, a single radio link control (RLC)/PDCP stack may be used during handover procedures. A source base station may, for example, forward data to a target base station after receiving a handover execution message. A UE may identify and resolve any duplicate data sent by both base stations during the transition. Additional signaling may be used (e.g., during the radio resource control (RRC) configuration) to indicate that a UE supports dual link handover.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method includes performing a clear channel assessment (CCA) for a first node associated with a first operator in a deployment of operators over an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, and transmitting data over the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band when the CCA is successful. The data may be transmitted by the first node in accordance with an agreement between the first operator and a second operator in the deployment of operators. A second method includes receiving over an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, at a user equipment (UE), a first transmission from a first node associated with a first operator in a deployment of operators. The first transmission may include data originating from a second operator in the deployment of operators.

Alternatively, the apparatus may be policy server configured to receive a request for traffic control regarding data being communicated to an application server, determine a policy update for the application server based on the request, and transmit the policy update to a UE.

Abstract: An emergency notification service is described that is delivered using an evolved multimedia broadcast-multicast service (eMBMS). An emergency notification is sent out to user equipment (UE) in affected areas. In response to receiving the emergency notification, the UE searches the appropriate emergency multicast service acquisition information for multiple potential types of available emergency content that is provided by the eMBMS system in the network and tunes to the eMBMS to receive the emergency content. In selected aspects, the transmitted information, including the notifications and content may be scrambled using the same cell ID for each of the cells transmitting the same content. This improves the quality of the transmitted signals allowing for more reliable receipt and decoding by the receiving UEs.
