    摘要: One embodiment is directed to a system for mounting a rider to a snowboard, and an interface for use in such a system. The system comprises a snowboard boot, a snowboard binding and an interface having at least one mating feature adapted to be releasably engaged by the snowboard binding. The interface further includes at least one strap adapted to mount the interface to the snowboard boot. The outer sole of the snowboard boot includes a recess rearward of the arch area that is adapted to receive the interface so that the interface does not protrude below the outer sole when the interface is mounted to the snowboard boot. In another embodiment, the interface includes a base that is adapted to pass under the sole of the snowboard boot, the base having a non-planar contoured upper surface that is adapted to fit within a recess in a sole of the snowboard boot. In another embodiment, the mating feature of the interface includes at least one engagement pin that extends outwardly from medial and lateral sides of the interface and is circular in cross-section. The various features of the system can be combined or used separately.

In another aspect of the invention, the binding includes an over-center locking mechanism adapted to lock the movable engagement member in the closed position, the locking mechanism including a roller that is mechanically coupled to the movable engagement member and a cammed socket adapted to receive the roller when the movable engagement member is in the closed position.

    摘要: A ratchet buckle for incrementally tightening and quickly releasing a strap, such as a snowboard binding strap and the like. A housing supports a pawl, a release actuator and a drive actuator. The housing slidably receives a serrated strap, which is engaged by the pawl to prevent an inadvertent release from the buckle. The drive actuator allows a user to selectively tighten the strap relative to the buckle. The release actuator is arranged to both disengage the pawl from the strap and separate the buckle from the strap using one continuous motion. The pawl, release actuator and drive actuator may be pivotally mounted to the housing about separate axes, and the drive actuator may be pivotally attached to the release actuator.

    摘要: A snowboard binding system is disclosed which uses a pair of cables extending from spaced points on a first forward boot plate to corresponding spaced points on a second rearward boot plate, with each cable passing through independent tensioning means for preventing movement of the boot plates under normal loads occurring as a snowboarder is maneuvering. When an abnormal load is encountered by one boot plate, the retaining force applied by the tensioning means is overcome and both boot plates are conditionally releasable, but not separated from the snowboard. The cable binding system also allows automatic return of the plates to the snowboard where they are held against movement when the abnormal load is reduced to a normal level.

    摘要: A sport boot, such as a snow ski boot, that includes a shell having a rigid foot portion. The foot portion includes a heel pocket and an instep region that is largely immovable relative to the heel pocket due to the rigidity of the foot portion. The boot also includes a highback support region that snugly engages the leg of a user during use. A heel-track is located on the dorsal side of the boot between the highback support region and the heel pocket. The heel-track provides a concave space that receives the user's heel when the user is putting-on and taking-off the boot to counter the relative immovability of the instep region of the boot against the engaging action of the user's foot. The sport boot can also include a special boot liner having an expandable dorsal region, and, optionally, other features that compliment the heel-track of the shell.
