摘要: A liquid crystal device includes a pair of substrates between which liquid crystal is sandwiched, a plurality of pixel electrodes arranged in a matrix on one of the substrates, switching elements that control the supply of current to the pixel electrodes, scanning lines that supply scanning signals to the switching elements, and data lines that cross the scanning lines and that supply image signals to the switching elements. The pixel electrodes are arranged in pairs, and each pair of the pixel electrodes are adjacent in an extending direction of the data lines and are disposed between a corresponding pair of the scanning lines in the extending direction of the data lines. The switching elements corresponding to each line of the pixel electrodes arrayed in the extending direction of the data lines are alternately connected to either of opposing sides of an adjacent pair of the data lines in the extending direction of the data lines.

摘要: In the moving image display device of the invention, a synthesis circuit inputs signals representing specified values of pixel rate factors R2 and R3 from a pixel rate factor specification circuit, while inputting overscanned frame image data D1 in the units of pixels from a 1st latch circuit. The synthesis circuit extracts a preset number of pixels corresponding to the specified value of the pixel rate factor R2 from a prior frame image, while extracting a preset number of pixels corresponding to the specified value of the pixel rate factor R3 from a latter frame image. The positions of pixels to be extracted from the latter frame image are complementary to the positions of pixels to be extracted from the prior frame image. The synthesis circuit combines the extracted pixels of the prior frame image with the extracted pixels of the latter frame image by a logical OR operation to generate intermediate frame image data D2. This technique of the invention is significantly simpler than the prior art technique but still effectively prevents flicker in a moving image to ensure smooth display of the moving image.

摘要: On the substrate (108) are made reflecting type picture element electrodes (107), of Cr, and on substrate 101 are made transference picture element electrodes (102), of ITO. On both substrates (108, 101) parallel alignment films (106, 103), consisting of polyimide alignment films, are each made, but rubbing treatment is not administered. Between the substrates (108. 101) polymer dispersion liquid crystal, in which liquid crystal (105) and polymer (104) are in a state of mutual orientation dispersion, is placed. Liquid crystal (105) is parallel oriented randomly near the substrate surfaces, and twisted approximately 90.degree. between the substrates (101, 108). Also, the orientation domains from the liquid crystal random orientation are evenly multidomained at the level of approximately 1-3 .mu.m. Because they are randomly oriented in this way, directivity of scatter is improved, and operation voltage is decreased.

摘要: Reflective pixels composed of chromium are formed on a substrate and a polyimide film is provided on the substrate. Rubbing in two directions is conducted through a mask rubbing process. Transparent pixel electrodes, composed of indium tin oxide (ITO), are formed on a substrate, a polyimide film is formed on another substrate, and orientation processing is conducted in the same direction over the entire surface. A polymer dispersion liquid crystal is provided between these two substrates. The liquid crystal does not contain a chiral agent. The liquid crystal is divided into a left twist area having a left twist orientation state and a right twist area having a right twist orientation state. Between the substrates, the polymer and the liquid crystal are mutually orientation dispersed.
