    摘要: A technique for generating a carry, AND, OR, NAND, NOR, INVERTING logic and sum and carry: operation in a one or at most two device delay by employing negative differential resistance devices. Circuits implemented with this technique are not only extremely fast, but use a small number of active devices as well. This technique could be implemented in building circuits using any transistor Bipolar Transistors, Field Effect Transistors (FETs), High Electron Mobility Transistors (HEMTs), Hetero-junction Bipolar Transistors (HBTs), etc. The negative differential resistance characteristics of the resonant tunneling transistor can be exploited to increase the noise margin. Resonant tunneling devices have the added advantage of working at very high speeds, and could yield propagation delays less than 5ps.

    摘要: A bi-directional dc-dc converter is provided that may provide voltage conversion for two separate electrical power systems. The two electrical power systems may have different functions, electrical requirements and power transfer directions. The bi-directional dc-dc converter may include back-to-back bi-directional dc-dc converter circuits isolated from each other by a transformer. Multiple such dc-dc converters may be connected in parallel to increase power capability. Phase shift pulse width modulation (PWM) may be used to switch the parallel dc-dc converters so as to decrease both voltage ripple and current ripple. The number of dc-dc converters may be modified to meet the different needs of various electric power systems. A single bi-directional dc-dc converter of the invention may be employed to provide electric power conversion for multiple electric power systems, even where those systems have different power requirements and different power transfer directions.

    摘要: A neutral line regulator is designed as a plug-in module or new integrated inverter with a lower rating 4th-leg, instead of using a conventional four-leg inverter to supply power to three-phase four-wire unbalanced AC loads or three-phase nonlinear loads without a neutral connection. The neutral line regulator may be designed for controlling only the unbalanced power rather than using a fully rated inverter leg. Since this plug-in module may be separate from the main inverter and may operate at a lower power, the switching frequency may be higher than the main inverter. Thus, the size and weight requirements for providing the neutral line can be significantly reduced. In addition, the plug-in regulator may maintain voltage balance between the center-tapped DC link capacitors for non-linear, unbalanced loads. Moreover, the plug-in module may be used as a retrofit module replacing, for example, delta-wye transformers.

    摘要: An electrically variable transmission having two planetary gear sets, two motor/generators, and six torque transfer devices to provide input split, compound split, output split, neutral, electric reverse and mechanical reverse modes of operation. The electrically variable transmission includes: an input member to receive power from an engine; an output member; first and second motor/generators; and first and second differentially geared planetary gear sets each having first, second and third gear members. The input member is not continuously connected with any member of the planetary gear sets, and the output member is continuously connected to the first member of the second planetary gear set. The first and second motor/generators are each continuously connected to at least one member of the planetary gear sets. The first member of the first planetary gear set is continuously connected with the third member of the second planetary gear set. The six torque transfer devices are selectively engageable to provide the various operating modes of the electrically variable transmission.

    摘要: A torque-transmitting mechanism includes a spiral spring, an apply piston, and a rotating mechanism. The rotating mechanism is operative to rotate a member relative to the spiral spring to enforce linear movement of the spiral spring which results in linear movement of the apply piston to enforce engagement and disengagement of a torque-transmitting mechanism. The mechanism has two applications—interconnecting two rotating members, or connecting a rotating member to a ground member. The mechanism is employable in two systems. A motor drives the spiral spring with the rotation of the spring causing it to thread between stationary pins to move spring material to one side of the pins. The spiral spring pushes against the clutch plates. The motor drives the housing with pins and the spring is retained from rotating causing the spring to thread through the pins and drive the pins forward or backward. The housing presses against the clutch plates.
