Abstract: A three-speed gearbox assembly for an electric drive vehicle includes four planetary gear sets connected to an electric motor output. A first clutch is configured to selectively couple the motor output to the first planetary gear set. A second clutch is configured to selectively ground a first portion of the first planetary gear set and a portion of the second planetary gear set to a housing. A selectable one-way clutch (SOWC) is configured to selectively ground a second portion of the first planetary gear set. The gearbox assembly is selectively switchable between (i) a first gear where the SOWC is engaged and the first and second clutches are disengaged, (ii) a second gear where the second clutch is engaged and the first clutch and the SOWC are disengaged, and (iii) a third gear where the first clutch is engaged and the second clutch and the SOWC are disengaged.

Abstract: A transmission system associated with a vehicle includes a shaft to rotate about an axis of rotation. The shaft is coupled to a gear set. The transmission system includes a target wheel to be coupled to the gear set and to rotate with the gear set. The target wheel includes at least one void. The transmission system includes a giant magnetoresistance (GMR) sensor spaced apart from the target wheel by a gap. The giant magnetoresistance (GMR) sensor is configured to observe the at least one void of the target wheel to determine a rotation speed of the shaft based on a giant magnetoresistance (GMR) effect. The transmission system further includes a rotating shell located in the gap between the target wheel and the giant magnetoresistance (GMR) sensor.

Abstract: Disclosed is method for operating a multi-gear vehicle transmission having a plurality of shifting elements (A, B, C, D, E) for engaging gears of the vehicle transmission. In a neutral gear a transmission input (1) and a transmission output (2) of the vehicle transmission are decoupled from one another. In a driving gear the transmission input (1) and the transmission output (2) of the vehicle transmission are coupled with one another by closing the shifting elements (A, B, C, D, E) associated with the driving gear in order to propel the vehicle. When the neutral gear is engaged, a transmission condition is determined, and if a transmission condition with elevated drag losses exists, then in addition to the shifting elements (A, B, C, D, E) of a driving gear, at least one further shifting element (A, B, C, D, E) of the vehicle transmission is closed.

A method (200) for the open-loop control of the gearbox (100) includes: determining a specified differential speed profile that is a profile of a difference between a rotational speed of the input shaft (105) and a synchronous speed of a gear ratio to be engaged; and determining a torque demand of a drive source connected to the input shaft (105) or determining a control profile for the one of the first and second shift elements (A to F) to be engaged in the gear ratio on the basis of the specified differential speed profile.
