We provide a process, comprising: a) hydroisomerization dewaxing a substantially paraffinic wax feed and distilling a dewaxed product, whereby a lubricating base oil is produced having a traction coefficient less than 0.015 when measured at 15 mm2/s and at a slide to roll ratio of 40 percent; and b) blending one or more fractions of the lubricating base oil with: i) optionally less than about 5 wt % of a hydrocarbon solvent, ii) another base oil, and iii) one or more additives; whereby the lubricating oil is a two-cycle gasoline engine lubricant. We also provide a lubricating oil, comprising an isomerized base oil having a traction coefficient less than 0.015 when measured at 15 mm2/s and at a slide to roll ratio of 40 percent, and one or more additives; wherein the lubricating oil is a two-cycle gasoline engine lubricant.

A process to prepare a heat transfer oil, comprising: a. dewaxing a substantially paraffinic wax feed by hydroisomerization dewaxing using a shape selective intermediate pore size molecular sieve under hydroisomerization conditions including a defined hydrogen to feed ratio, whereby a lubricating base oil is produced, b. selecting one or more fractions of the lubricating base oil having: i. a low pour point, ii. greater than 10 weight percent and less than 70 weight percent total molecules with cycloparaffinic functionality, wherein the one or more fractions have at least 31.2 wt % 1-unsaturations by FIMS, and iii. a ratio of weight percent molecules with monocycloparaffinic functionality to weight percent molecules with multicycloparaffinic functionality greater than 15; and c. blending the one or more fractions of the lubricating base oil with less than 0.2 wt % antifoam agent to prepare the heat transfer oil of a defined ISO viscosity grade.

A compressor lubricant composition providing energy savings and exhibiting excellent oxidation stability is provided. The composition comprises (i) 80 to 99.999 weight percent of an isomerized base oil; and (ii) 0.001-20 weight percent of at least an additive selected from an additive package, oxidation inhibitors, pour point depressants, metal deactivators, metal passivators, anti-foaming agents, friction modifiers, anti-wear agents, and mixtures thereof; wherein the isomerized base oil has consecutive numbers of carbon atoms, less than 0.05 wt. % aromatics, a ratio of molecules with monocycloparaffinic functionality to molecules with multicyloparaffinic functionality greater than 2. In one embodiment, compressors employing the lubricant composition with isomerized base oil consumes at least 1% less power than compressors employing the lubricant compositions of the prior art.

A process to make a two-cycle gasoline engine lubricant, comprising preparing a pour point reducing blend component by isomerizing a feed, blending it with a light distillate base oil to produce a pour point reduced base oil blend, and blending the pour point reduced base oil blend with a detergent/dispersant additive package and less than 5 wt % solvent. A hydraulic system, comprising a hydraulic system oil reservoir holding a hydraulic oil comprising: i. a lubricant base oil, optionally having defined properties; and b. an antiwear hydraulic oil additive package; wherein the hydraulic oil has an air release at 50° C. less than 0.8 minutes. In one embodiment the hydraulic oil additionally has low foam tendency and good demulsibility.

A manual transmission fluid having a VI greater than 160 and a Brookfield viscosity at −40° C. less than 30,000 cP. It comprises: 1) a base oil (made from a waxy feed) having less than 0.06 wt % aromatics, greater than 5 wt % total molecules with cycloparaffinic functionality, and a ratio of molecules with monocycloparaffinic functionality to molecules with multicycloparaffinic functionality greater than 20; and a manual transmission fluid additive package. In another embodiment, the manual transmission fluid comprises: 1) a base oil having a high VI and a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. greater than 5.5 cSt, 2) less than 0.01 wt % pour point depressant, and 3) a manual transmission fluid additive package. This invention is also directed to a process to make the manual transmission fluid, comprising the steps of hydroisomerization dewaxing, selecting base oil fractions having a high VI, and blending the fractions with an additive package.
