摘要: Digital signal recording and reproducing apparatus for recording digital signals in successive tracks of given pitch on a record medium and for reproducing digital signals therefrom. A rotary head assembly including two pairs of head subassemblies angularly separated by approximately 180.degree., with each subassembly comprised of a pair of heads displaced from each other in a direction parallel to the track pitch, is driven at a predetermined rotation speed to record digital signals selectively supplied at respectively different original transmission rates which exhibit a predetermined ratio. The digital signals are timebase modified to have substantially the same data rate even though their original transmission rates differ from each other; and are coupled to the rotary head assembly. The record medium is driven during a recording mode at respectively different speeds determined by the original transmission rate of the selectively supplied digital signal, whereby the number of tracks recorded on the record medium during a unit time period T (where T is the time for the rotary head assembly to make a predetermined number of rotations) corresponds to the original transmission rate. The record medium is driven during a reproducing mode at the same speed as was used during recording, whereby during the time period T the rotary head assembly reproduces digital signals from twice the number of tracks that had been recorded during that same time period . The reproduced digital signals are recovered substantially without defects at their original transmission rate by way of a memory.

摘要: The present invention is intended for use in a signal reproducing system of the type having at least one rotary transducer for scanning traces across a movable record medium, such as a magnetic tape, to reproduce signals from previously recorded record tracks. Each transducer is supported on a displaceable support member that is responsive to control signals to displace the transducer relative to the record tracks. The record medium is movable at a speed which may be less than, equal to or greater than the speed at which the signals originally were recorded. A frequency generator generates speed representing pulses whose frequency is a function of the speed at which the record medium is moved. A cyclical, or resettable, counter cyclically counts the speed representing pulses. A level generator generates a signal level corresponding to the count then present in the counter at the time that a transducer advances to the middle portion of a scanning trace. The generated signal level is used as a control signal to correspondingly displace the transducer support member. This displacement provides general compensation for the deviation between the scanning trace of the transducer and the record track which is scanned thereby. In a preferred use of the present invention, the signal reproducing system is a VTR, and tracking compensation is provided for slow or fast modes of reproduction. In accordance with another feature, a sawtooth signal having a period equal to a head scanning period, and an amplitude determined by the speed at which the record medium (or tape) is moved is added to the generated level in order to provide substantially continuous error correction of the head scanning trace.

摘要: A method and apparatus for cancelling remanent deflection in a piezoceramic head support means which is used in a video recorder that is operative in selected operating modes. In one of such modes, such as the reproducing mode, a tracking control signal is supplied to the piezoceramic support means, thereby causing the piezoceramic support means to deflect and to correspondingly displace the head supported thereby in a direction transversely of the trace which is scanned by that head. When the video signal recorder is changed over between selected operating modes, an oscillating signal is supplied to the piezoceramic support means for a predetermined duration, the maximum magnitude of the oscillating signal being less than E.sub.c, wherein E.sub.c is the largest magnitude of the tracking control signal to which the piezoceramic means responds. The magnitude of the oscillating signal is gradually reduced to a minimum level during this predetermined duration.

摘要: Apparatus for controlling the scanning path of a rotary transducer which is used in a signal reproducing system of the type having at least one rotary transducer which scans across a movable record medium to reproduce, during each pass of the transducer, signals which are recorded in parallel record tracks, the apparatus being particularly useful when the record medium is moved either at a faster-than-normal or slower-than-normal speed so that the transducer scans plural record tracks during each pass thereof. A control signal generator produces a periodic tracking control signal which is synchronized with the speed at which the record medium is moved, the periodic control signal having a plurality of periods during each pass of the transducer. An adjustable support is provided for the transducer, the adjustable support being responsive to the tracking control signal to displace the transducer transversely of the scanning path thereof, such that the transducer scans successive segments of predetermined record tracks during each pass thereof. In one embodiment wherein the transducer is used to scan adjacent record tracks which have been recorded with different azimuth angles, the adjustable support is controlled such that a segment of one record track is scanned, then the next adjacent record track is skipped and a segment of the next following record track is scanned and so on. Thus, only segments of those record tracks which are recorded with the same azimuth angle are scanned. This apparatus is especially useful in a search mode of, for example, a recorded video tape.

摘要: Tracking control apparatus for a signal reproducing system of the type wherein at least one transducer scans successive parallel tracks on a record medium in which information signals, such as video signals, are recorded. The transducer preferably is of the rotary type so that, during its orbit, it is brought into and then out of reproducing relation with respect to the record medium. Any deviation between the scanning trace of the transducer across the medium and a given track which is being scanned is detected, and a control signal is produced as a function of this detected deviation. The transducer is supported by an adjustable support which is responsive to the control signal so as to displace the transducer transversely of the given track by an amount determined by the control signal. A predetermined sample of the control signal is produced while the transducer scans the given track, and this predetermined sample is stored. Prior to the time that the transducer moves into a reproducing relation with respect to the medium, the stored sample is supplied to the adjustable support so that the transducer is pre-displaced before signals are reproduced thereby.
