    摘要: A cassette houses a first and a second tape-like recording medium. The cassette is provided with a first and a second reel, at least a first tape guide provided between the first and second reels, a third and a fourth reel and at least a second tape guide provided between the third and fourth reels. The first tape-like recording medium is wound around the first and second reels via the first tape guide. The second tape-like recording medium is wound around the third and fourth reels via the second tape guide. The first and second reels may be arranged in a first direction in the cassette. And the third and fourth reels may be arranged in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction in the cassette. The cassette may have a first side face formed in the first direction and a second side face formed in the second direction, each side face having an opening through which data is recorded on or reproduced from the first or the second tape-like recording medium by a recording and reproducing apparatus.

    摘要: A video tape recorder in which video and audio signals of a plurality of channels are simultaneously recorded onto the same tape by using the same tape running mechanism and the signals of a plurality of channels may be simultaneously reproduced from the tape. The video tape recorder of the invention comprises a recording system and a playback system. The recording system includes a recording processing unit for converting the plurality of video signals into recordable signals, respectively; first and second rotary head pairs which are oppositely arranged with respect to a cylinder. Each head has a track width narrower than a recording track pitch and have gap azimuth angles in an opposite relation. Each head records the signals onto the tape and reads out the signals from the tape. The recording system further includes a unit for recording a control signal synchronous with a vertical sync signal included in one video signal onto a control track. The playback system includes a playback processing unit for reconstructing reproduced signals from the rotary head pairs into video signals and a servo unit for reproducing the control signal to control the rotary head pair and the tape run.

    摘要: A video signal recording/reproducing apparatus with two groups of rotary heads which respectively include one main head and two auxiliary heads is set forth. The apparatus includes a head switching device for switching one of the two auxiliary heads into operation according to input video signals and a tape speed switching device for switching the running speed of a video tape according to the input video signals. The apparatus permits the video signal recording/reproducing of both video signals having a wide band and a narrow band. The apparatus also defines an effective tape wrap angle wherein the position of head switching is removed from a screen so that the division of images within the screen is avoidable and so that noise bars produced in the boarders of these images do not appear even in the case of special reproduction. The apparatus further permits recording of video signals on a video tape while approximately conforming a line number in the center of the main tracks to that in the center of the effective lines of the TV image. Accordingly, noise bars produced by head switching and image parts with less information amount can be removed by separating and locating them out of the upper and lower ends of the screen.

    摘要: In a system for recording digital data obtained based on an information signal on a magnetic tape and/or reproducing digital data obtained based on an information signal from a magnetic tape, a magnetic recording apparatus comprises an encoder for producing, based on the information signal, one of plural kinds of digital data which have different transmission rates respectively, a time base processor for selectively converting a time base of digital data obtained from the encoder so as to produce modified digital data having a predetermined transmission rate, a recording modulator for producing a recording signal corresponding to the modified digital data, a recording portion provided with a rotary magnetic head device to which the recording signal is supplied and a tape guide for guiding the magnetic tape and operative to cause the rotary magnetic head device to contact with the magnetic tape for forming oblique record tracks on the magnetic tape, a head driver for rotating the rotary magnetic head device at a predetermined speed of rotation, and a tape driving device for causing the magnetic tape to run at a speed corresponding to the transmission rate of the digital data obtained from the encoder.

A helical scan drum has at least first and second rotary head pairs.
