    摘要: The invention relates to techniques for processing media data at a receiver device in a packet-switched network. It is proposed to detect data packet losses in the media data, and to determine data frames, like P-frames or I-frames, within a group of successive frames, like the GOP structure, affected by a packet loss. The number of the affected data frames is compared with a threshold value and if said number is equal or higher then the threshold value, then it is proposed to drop the affected data frames and to provide for playing-out data frames in form of a slide show.

A method embodiment of the technique for supporting a fast channel switching in a system (100) comprising multiple PTM primary channels is performed in a transmitter (102) and comprises the steps of transmitting pictures (P) on each of the multiple PTM primary channels; and transmitting channel switching information (‘CSI’) items on a secondary channel for supporting a fast channel switching, wherein each CSI item allows a determination of an intra-coded picture of one of a pair of primary channels at a receiver side based on a picture of the other of the pair of primary channels.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for tuning to a channel of a Moving Pictures Expert Group transport stream (MPEG-TS), for example used in an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) network, are provided for optimizing a channel change procedure. The method comprises the steps of receiving a MPEG transport stream at a first bit rate, the MPEG transport stream comprising a plurality of television channels. Program clock reference (PCR) values are identified in the received MPEG transport stream, and one or more of the program clock reference (PCR) values are adjusted. The MPEG transport stream, including the adjusted program clock reference values, are transmitted at a second bit rate, for example to a receiver device such as a set top box, thereby enabling the set top box to perform a channel change procedure more quickly.

    摘要: A technique for controlling a play-out of a media data stream at a receiving device is provided. The media data stream comprises one or more programs, and each program comprises one or more program components. In a method implementation of the technique, a zone description is defined. The zone description is defined for a media zone for at least one program or at least one program component in the media stream and identifies the media zone for the at least one program or the at least one program component. In a next step, the zone description is associated to a program specific information data segment. The program specific information data segment is part of the media stream and comprises data specifying information at least regarding to the at least one program or at least one program component. The method also comprises transmitting the media data stream towards the receiving device.

    摘要: Control of view synthesis of a 3D scene is described. A method comprises detecting discontinuities in a depth map that comprises depth values corresponding to a view point of a reference camera (C1). The detection comprises calculation of shifts for neighbouring pixels of the depth map, the shifts being associated with a change of viewpoint from the reference camera to a virtual camera (CV). The detected discontinuities are then analyzed, which comprises identifying increase of depths associated with the change of viewpoint from the reference camera to the virtual camera. Areas of disocclusion (108) associated with the viewpoint of the virtual camera are then identified, the areas being delimited by positions of the identified increase of depths associated with the change of viewpoint from the reference camera to the virtual camera. The identified areas of disocclusion are then provided to a view synthesis process.

The media layers are hierarchically arranged in accordance with a scalable coding protocol such as the Scalable Video Coding (SVC) protocol. In a method implementation of this technique, in a first step a first number of media recipients for a first media layer that is transmitted via a first bearer of the multicasting network is determined. Then, a second bearer of the multicasting network for at least one second media layer is selected taking into account the first number and a hierarchical relationship between the first media layer and the second media layer.
