Abstract: A current detection resistor is connected between an output terminal of a high voltage generator and an air motor. A coater current detector detects a coater current supplied to a coater based on a potential difference taking place on both terminals of the current detection resistor. The high-voltage control device serves to discriminate based on the coater current detected by the coater current detector whether the coater is caused to be close to a coating object. When it is discriminated that the coater is caused to be close to the coating object, the high-voltage control device outputs a shut-off signal for shutting off supply of the power supply voltage to the power supply voltage control device.

Abstract: A rotation restricting mechanism is provided between a mounting shaft section of a rotational shaft and a mounting tube section of a rotary atomizing head. The rotation restricting mechanism includes a male spline member provided on the outer peripheral side of the mounting shaft section, and a female spline member provided on the inner peripheral side of the mounting tube section. Abstract: A rotary atomizing head is mounted on a fore end side of a motor. A shaping air ring having a plurality of air outlet holes at fixed intervals is provided on a rear side of the rotary atomizing head. Outer surfaces of the air motor and outer surfaces of the shaping air ring are enshrouded over the entire circumference by a cover member formed of an electrically insulating material. An external electrode assembly is provided radially outwardly of the cover member. An annular projecting portion which projects forward is provided on the shaping air ring over the entire circumference. The air outlet holes are open in a fore distal end of this annular projecting portion. As a result, a corona discharge can be generated by allowing an electric field to be concentrated at the fore distal end of the annular protecting portion.

Abstract: A current sensor for detecting a full return current is connected to a high voltage generator. A leakage current detector including current sensors for detecting a leakage current is provided at the surface of the cover of a coating machine, air passages and a paint passage. Based on current detection values obtained by the current sensors, a high voltage control unit controls a power supply voltage control unit and a high voltage to be output from the high voltage generator can be raised or dropped. By employing the current detection values, the high voltage control unit can identify and provide notification of a location where the leakage current is increased and the insulation is deteriorated, and can request an operator to perform maintenance for the pertinent location. Further, upon occurrence of the insulation being deteriorated, the high voltage control unit can stop the high voltage supply.

Abstract: An atomizer including an air motor and a rotary atomizing head, mounted in a front side of a housing member, while a high voltage generator applying a high voltage to paint through the air motor is mounted in a rear side of the housing member. A cover member is fitted on the housing member to cover an outer surface of the housing member. Opposite axial ends of the cover member are fitted on and attached to opposite axial ends of the housing member so as to leave an annular gap space between the cover member and the housing member.
