Abstract: An electrostatic coating apparatus includes: a spray gun configured to spray a coating material onto a coating object; a voltage application device configured to apply a high voltage to the spray gun; and a current measurement device configured to measure electric current flowing through the spray gun. When the spray gun, which is in a state of not spraying the coating material onto the coating object and is under application of the high voltage from the voltage application device, is located at a distance from the coating object, the electric current flowing through the spray gun is measured by the current measurement device. A grounded state of the coating object is checked, based on the measured electric current. This shortens the time required for checking the grounded state, while allowing for downsizing and simplified configuration of production equipment and reduction of equipment cost.

Abstract: The present invention is intended to solve a problem that a coating film has an uneven thickness in the case where a coating target 1 has a stepped portion extending in a predetermined direction on its coating surface. To solve the problem, a follow-up coating is performed along the stepped portion S extending in the predetermined direction after coating of the entire coating surface of the coating target 1 so that paint mist adheres more to a relatively-recessed side of the stepped portion S.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention generally include apparatus and methods for depositing nanowires in a predetermined pattern during an electrospinning process. An apparatus includes a nozzle for containing and ejecting a deposition material, and a voltage source coupled to the nozzle to eject the deposition material. One or more electric field shaping devices are positioned to shape the electric field adjacent to a substrate to control the trajectory of the ejected deposition material. The electric field shaping device converges an electric field at a point near the surface of the substrate to accurately deposit the deposition material on the substrate in a predetermined pattern. The methods include applying a voltage to a nozzle to eject an electrically-charged deposition material towards a substrate, and shaping one or more electric fields to control the trajectory of the electrically-charged deposition material. The deposition material is then deposited on the substrate in a predetermined pattern.

Abstract: A cartridge discharges paint in a paint chamber from a feed tube by displacing a piston in a tank. A waste liquid adjusting valve located on a downstream side of a waste liquid passage on-off valve and including a throttle passage is provided in a waste liquid passage to be connected to the feed tube. This waste liquid adjusting valve is opened at the time of washing clean the paint chamber and a paint supply passage of the feed tube to widely enlarge the passage cross-sectional area of the waste liquid passage. When paint is replenished into the paint supply passage, the waste liquid adjusting valve uses the throttle passage as a flow passage to narrowly throttle the passage cross-sectional area of the waste liquid passage. The amount of discarded paint which flows out from the feed tube is thereby reduced.

Abstract: An electrostatic painting apparatus for electrostatically painting a door on a vehicle body. The painting apparatus uses a robot arm that opens/closes the door. A high voltage is applied to the robot arm and the amount of any current between an electrode pin on the robot arm and the door is measured to determine the positional relationship between the door and the robot arm.
