Abstract: Circuits for monitoring a socket are disclosed, including a circuit comprising a first node arranged to be electrically connected to a first pole of an electrical plug when the electrical plug is inserted into a corresponding socket, a second node arranged to be connected to a first voltage, wherein the first node is arranged to be connected to the first pole when the electrical plug is inserted into the socket, a variable resistance connected between the first node and a third node, wherein the third node is arranged to receive a second voltage, detection circuit arranged to detect the presence of the electrical plug or moisture in the socket based on a voltage at the first node, and a control circuit arranged to control the variable resistance to a first resistance value and, in response to the detection circuit detecting the presence of the electrical plug or moisture in the socket when the variable resistance is at the first resistance value, to a second resistance value, whereby the detection circuit distinguishes between the electrical plug and moisture within the socket.

Abstract: A method for compensating for a change in back electric motive force in a transducer in a device, wherein the transducer is driven by an output signal output by an amplifier, and a back volume of the transducer is formed by an enclosure within the device. The method comprises: receiving an input signal; determining, based on a characteristic of the transducer that the transducer has moved from an equilibrium position within the device; and based on the determination, adjusting a gain applied to the input signal by the amplifier to generate the output signal.

Abstract: Received data representing speech is stored, and a trigger detection block detects a presence of data representing a trigger phrase in the received data. In response, a first part of the stored data representing at least a part of the trigger phrase is supplied to an adaptive speech enhancement block, which is trained on the first part of the stored data to derive adapted parameters for the speech enhancement block. A second part of the stored data, overlapping with the first part of the stored data, is supplied to the adaptive speech enhancement block operating with said adapted parameters, to form enhanced stored data. A second trigger phrase detection block detects the presence of data representing the trigger phrase in the enhanced stored data. In response, enhanced speech data are output from the speech enhancement block for further processing, such as speech recognition.

Abstract: A DC-DC converter and corresponding method for transitioning between a discontinuous conduction mode, DCM, and a continuous conduction mode, CCM, wherein the DC-DC converter is configured to power a signal processing system within an integrated circuit, is provided. A DC-DC converter and respective method for transitioning from CCM to DCM comprising determining an estimated current representative of an inductor current through an inductor of the DC-DC converter; and transitioning from CCM to DCM based on the estimated current, is provided. A DC-DC converter and respective method for transitioning from DCM to CCM comprising determining either an output voltage of the DC-DC converter or a duty cycle of the DC-DC converter; and transitioning from DCM to CCM based on the determined output voltage or duty cycle of the DC-DC converter, is provided.

Abstract: A method for generating a periodic ramp waveform may include in a sampling phase of each period of operation of a ramp-generation circuit, sampling a reference voltage onto a sampling capacitor. The method may also include in a transfer phase of each period of operation of the ramp-generation circuit: discharging the reference voltage from the sampling capacitor through at least one resistor to generate a current and generating the periodic ramp waveform by integrating the current with at least one integrating capacitor, wherein a duration of the transfer phase is significantly smaller than a time constant defined by a capacitance of the sampling capacitor and a resistance of the at least one resistor, such that the reference voltage discharges linearly from the sampling capacitor as a function of time during the transfer phase.

Abstract: A system may include a tactile actuator for providing tactile feedback and a resonant phase sensing system. The resonant phase sensing system may include a resistive-inductive-capacitive sensor and a measurement circuit communicatively coupled to the resistive-inductive-capacitive sensor and the tactile actuator. The resistive-inductive-capacitive sensor may be configured to measure phase information associated with the resistive-inductive-capacitive sensor, based on the phase information, detect an indication of human interaction with the system proximate to the resistive-inductive-capacitive sensor, and trigger the tactile actuator to generate tactile feedback responsive to detecting the indication of human interaction.

Abstract: A method may include receiving a user trigger signal indicating a user desire to update characteristics of an adaptive filter, receiving an error microphone signal indicative of the output of the transducer and the ambient audio sounds at the transducer, wherein the transducer reproduces both a source audio signal for playback to a listener and an anti-noise signal for countering the effects of ambient audio sounds in an acoustic output of the transducer, implementing the adaptive filter having a response that generates the anti-noise signal to reduce the presence of the ambient audio sounds in the error microphone signal, determining an acoustic coupling of the transducer to an error microphone for producing the error microphone signal, and responsive to a change in the acoustic coupling, prompting a user to assert the user trigger signal to indicate user desire to update characteristics of the adaptive filter.

Abstract: This application relates to methods and apparatus for operating MEMS sensors, in particular MEMS capacitive sensors (CMEMS) such as a microphones. An amplifier apparatus is arranged to amplify an input signal (VINP) received at a sense node from the MEMS capacitive sensor. An antiphase signal generator generates a second signal (VINN) which is in antiphase with the input signal (VINP) and an amplifier arrangement is configured to receive the input signal (VINP) at a first input and the second signal (VINN) at a second input and to output corresponding amplified first and second output signals. This converts a single ended input signal effectively into a differential input signal.
