摘要: According to a first aspect of the present invention there is provided a variable geometry turbine comprising: a turbine wheel mounted for rotation about a turbine axis within a housing, the housing defining an annular inlet surrounding the turbine wheel and defined between first and second inlet sidewalls, the annular inlet being divided into at least two axially offset inlet portions; a cylindrical sleeve axially movable across the annular inlet to vary the size of a gas flow path through the inlet; and a guide for guiding the movement of the cylindrical sleeve, the guide being at least partially located within the inlet at a radially extent of the inlet portions, and extending in an axial direction parallel to the turbine axis.

摘要: A variable geometry turbine comprising a turbine wheel mounted for rotation about a turbine axis within a housing. The housing defines an annular inlet surrounding the turbine wheel and defined between first and second inlet sidewalls. The turbine further comprises a cylindrical sleeve that is axially movable across the annular inlet to vary the size of a gas flow path through the inlet. The annular inlet is divided into at least two axially offset inlet passages. The inner diameter of the sleeve is greater than the inner diameter of the inlet passages.

摘要: A method of operating a generator arrangement comprises selecting an operating mode as a function of at least one of: a speed of an engine, a temperature of at least a portion of the engine, a property of an exhaust fluid of the engine, and whether an engine braking command signal is received by the controller; controlling the flow of fluid from a first engine outlet to a first turbine by setting, based on the selected operating mode, an operating condition of a first flow control mechanism, the first turbine being part of a turbocharger having a compressor in fluid flow communication with an engine inlet; and controlling the flow of fluid from a second engine outlet to a second turbine by setting, based on the selected operating mode, an operating condition of a second flow control mechanism, the second turbine being parallel to the first turbine and being part of an electrical generator.

摘要: An engine assembly comprising an internal combustion engine and a waste heat recovery system, wherein the waste heat recovery system is configured to direct refrigerant around a loop which comprises: a heat exchanger configured to transfer heat from engine exhaust gases to the refrigerant such that the refrigerant is vaporised; a turbine configured to receive and be driven by the vaporised refrigerant; and a condenser configured to cool and condense the refrigerant for subsequent delivery in liquid form to the heat exchanger; wherein the turbine comprises a turbine wheel connected to a shaft which is held in a shaft housing, a bearing lubricated by liquid refrigerant being provided between the shaft and the shaft housing, and wherein squeeze film dampers which utilise the liquid refrigerant are provided between the bearing and the shaft housing.

摘要: A turbine for a turbo-machine is proposed in which, at a gas inlet for a turbine wheel, vanes extend from a nozzle ring though slots in a shroud. The nozzle ring and shroud are relatively rotatable about a rotational axis of the turbine by at least 0.1 degrees. In use, the nozzle ring and shroud are relatively rotated to bring one side of the vane into close contact with one surface of the slot, to inhibit leakage of gas between the vane and the slot surface. For this purpose the respective surfaces of the nozzle and slot can be configured to closely conform to each other. If there is differential thermal expansion of the shroud and nozzle ring, the nozzle ring and shroud can relatively rotate, to withdraw the vane from the edge of the slot to relieve the pressure between them.
