Abstract:
Systems and systems to generate clean energy and for providing hydrogen capture and carbon capture sequestration are provided. Hydrogen from partial combustion of hydrocarbon fuel in combination with full combustion of carbon from hydrocarbon fuel is used to generate clean power with hydrogen capture and carbon capture sequestration.
Abstract:
Inventive concentrated solar power systems using solar receivers, and related devices and methods, are generally described. Low pressure solar receivers are provided that function to convert solar radiation energy to thermal energy of a working fluid, e.g., a working fluid of a power generation or thermal storage system. In some embodiments, low pressure solar receivers are provided herein that are useful in conjunction with gas turbine based power generation systems.
Abstract:
A method for operating a gas turbine power plant, and a gas turbine power plant in which fresh air is delivered to a compressor inlet and is accelerated in the compressor inlet and a recirculated first exhaust gas substream is delivered into a region of the compressor inlet in which the fresh air is accelerated to an extent such that the difference between total pressure and static pressure in the fresh air is greater than or equal to a pressure difference which is required in order to suck a target mass flow of the recirculated first exhaust gas substream into the compressor inlet.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a gas turbine device using a supercritical fluid as a cooling fluid, the gas turbine device having a compressor for compressing air, a combustor for burning the air emitted from the compressor and fuel, and a turbine driven by the burned gas emitted from the combustor, wherein the gas turbine device includes cooling passages formed in the combustor and the turbine, along which the supercritical fluid as a cooling fluid flows to allow the combustor and the turbine to be cooled.
Abstract:
A combustion chamber may include a first surface and a second surface interconnected by a wall forming a chamber having a central axis. The first surface may define an exhaust opening and the second surface defining a pilot opening, wherein the exhaust opening and the pilot opening align along the central axis. A plurality of inlet ports may be configured to deliver air to the chamber. A plurality of fuel ports may be arranged on an inside of the second surface to deliver fuel to the chamber. The air flow from the inlet ports and fuel from the fuel ports may oppose each other to create a vortex of product proximal to the second surface.
Abstract:
An aircraft/spacecraft fluid cooling system and an aircraft/spacecraft fluid cooling method in which a fluid in a pipe installed in aircraft or spacecraft can be cooled efficiently so that the amount of fluid required for cooling the fluid can be reduced. A fluid cooling system includes a feed line that feeds a fluid from a storage tank to a pump, and a cooling section that expands a propellant having traveled through the pump, feeds the propellant to the outer periphery of the feed line so as to cool the propellant in the feed line, and discharges the expanded propellant outside.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for an oxy-fuel combustion power cycle are provided, including converting gaseous carbon dioxide to liquid and/or supercritical carbon dioxide which may include the use of a cryogenic pump, removing a portion of the liquid and/or supercritical carbon dioxide from the cycle, combusting oxygen and a combustion fuel with the remaining liquid and/or supercritical carbon dioxide in an oxy-fuel combustor to generate steam and additional liquid and/or supercritical carbon dioxide which replaces the portion of the liquid and/or supercritical carbon dioxide sequestered from the cycle.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to systems and methods that provide a low pressure liquid CO2 stream. In particular, the present disclosure provides systems and methods wherein a high pressure CO2 stream, such as a recycle CO2 stream from a power production process using predominately CO2 as a working fluid, can be divided such that a portion thereof can be expanded and used as a cooling stream in a heat exchanger to cool the remaining portion of the high pressure CO2 stream, which can then be expanded to form a low pressure CO2 stream, which may be in a mixed form with CO2 vapor. The systems and methods can be utilized to provide net CO2 from combustion in a liquid form that is easily transportable.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for utilizing gas turbine compartment ventilation discharge air. In one embodiment, a system may include a gas turbine engine having a compressor. The system also may include a gas turbine compartment disposed about the gas turbine engine. Moreover, the system may include an inlet bleed heat (IBH) manifold in fluid communication with the compressor. The gas turbine compartment may be in fluid communication with the IBH manifold for providing the IBH manifold with ventilation discharge air from the gas turbine compartment.
