摘要： The present invention provides a novel means of joint and body protection using engineered textiles to provide dynamic kinematic control within the device itself and for the underlying body part. The apparatus may be used in apparel or orthosis wherein a textile is organized about the proximal and distal aspects of a joint or body part and uses the mechanical and material characteristics of the engineered textile to dynamically control the kinetics of the body part and more specifically to prevent the body part from reaching extremes in range of motion. The engineered textiles can be designed to provide non-uniform increases in stiffness in any direction. The engineered textile may incorporate strain or strain rate dependant materials in which case stiffness properties would vary non-uniformly with velocity and/or acceleration within the device allowing for protection from blunt trauma, blast, or ballistic events anywhere on the body. A further aspect of the present invention is to provide a novel means of dynamically fitting and anchoring apparel, orthosis, body protection devices or other objects that need to be securely fixed to the body anatomy during joint flexion or extension, by using motion at a body joint to actuate a closure mechanism and bracing system that actively closes upon the body anatomy surrounding the joint and transfers loads created during dynamic restraint of the joint to anchor zones on the body.

摘要： An athletic finger, palm and wrist protective pad comprising a leather pad configured to substantially conform to the shape of a human palm and wrist is disclosed. The leather pad and an added pad proximate the wrist end of the pad provide protection against abrasion of the palm and wrist of a baseball or softball player while sliding into a base or home plate, as well as protection against hyper-extension of the wrist. A foam dowel encased in the leading, finger end of the pad provides a padded gripping surface for the fingers, thereby preventing jamming, as well as protection from debris sliding under the pad. An elastic loop attached to the leading edge of the sleeve slips easily over the fingers of a user and a wrist strap tightens around the wrist, allowing quick and easy donning of the protective pad while on the base path.

A pad of resilient material covers an area of the hand including the base of the thenar eminence, the saddle between the thumb and forefinger, the distal portion of the palm below the base of the fingers, the ulnar side of the palm, and the wrist crease. The pad includes a tubular section that encircles and protects a proximal portion of the wearer's forefinger. An elastic retaining strap holds the protective pad against the palm while allowing the lower edge of the pad to move freely across the wrist during the side to side movement of the hand. In one embodiment, the pad is a laminate construction that includes a pressure distribution plate sandwiched between two coextensive layers of resilient material that are mated together.

摘要： An anatomically designed slip-on wrist supporting hand wrap is provided which is able to replace the long cloth hand wrap used in boxing and the martial arts. The hand wrap includes a resilient wrap body having thumb and finger apertures, wrist support straps oppositely extending from the wrap body and wrist support strap fasteners, and a hand fastener removably attachable to the wrap body for adjustment to a desired fit. The hand wrap may include a knuckle pad, finger sleeves and a hand grip for added comfort and support. The user's fingers and thumb are inserted through the thumb and finger apertures, and the wrist support straps are wrapped about the hand and wrist and the fasteners secured resulting in a convenient yet supportive and protective hand wrap which can be used in conjunction with boxing and bag gloves.
