Abstract:
An elliptical machine includes a foot link having a portion resting on an angled member such as a ramp secured to a frame. A wheel may mount to the bottom of the foot link and rest on the ramp. An end of the foot link pivotably connects to a sliding link, the other end of which is connected to an angled guide secured to the frame. The sliding link is coupled to a crank rigidly connected to a flywheel. A swinging arm pivotably connects to the frame and has its lower end pivotably connected to swinging arm link. A handle secures to the swinging arm above the point of pivotal securement to the frame. The swinging arm link secures to the sliding link at the same point as the crank.
Abstract:
An exercise device is configured to enable a user to interact with a trainer in real-time communication. The exercise device includes an exercise mechanism having a movable element for movement in performance of exercise by a user. Communicating with the exercise mechanism is an interface adapted for gathering a first real-time signal from the user. The interface communicates with a communication system for receiving a packetized second real-time signal including a synchronized control signal from the trainer. The exercise device includes an output device configured to reproduce the second real-time signal. The control signals carried by the second signal are used to control the operating parameters of the exercise mechanism in real-time.
Abstract:
Proprioceptive or kinesthetic exercise methods and apparatus are described. In one embodiment, a proprioceptive treadmill is described that comprises a foot-contact running surface that rotates about a pair of spaced pulleys, the running surface comprising at least one protuberance protruding upwards from the running surface. Proprioceptive exercise surfaces, exercise bicycles, steppers, ski machines, rowing machines and elliptic exercise machines are also described.
Abstract:
Footwear comprising a support member having an upper surface attachable to a foot, and two bulbous protuberances, each having a curved outer contour, protruding from a lower surface thereof, one of the protuberances being positioned more posteriorly than the other of the protuberances.
Abstract:
A portable system retrieves one or more exercise programs from a remote communication system that provides motivational content for a user exercising upon an exercise mechanism. The exercise program further includes at least one control signal that controls one or more operating parameters of the exercise mechanism. The portable system includes a control device configured to retrieve the exercise program and deliver the motivational content to the user by way of an audio delivery device, while delivering the control signals to the exercise mechanism. A sensor communicates with the control device and tracks one or more measurable parameters of the user during the user's performance of the exercise program. Data representative of the one or more measurable parameters can be delivered to the control device for delivery to the remote communication system.
Abstract:
An exercise apparatus. The apparatus includes first and second elongate support members pivotally mounted upon a support frame. First and second foot holders are moveably mounted upon the first and second support members, respectively, for supporting a user's feet thereon. The foot holders are moveable forwardly and backwardly along the support members. The combination of pivotal movement of the support members and linear movement of the foot holders relative to the support members enables the user to move each foot (i) simultaneously backwardly and downwardly and (ii) simultaneously forwardly and upwardly, in a reciprocating movement path without removing the feet from the foot holders.
Abstract:
A pedaling exercise device includes a rotation mechanism configured to pivotally support a rotation shaft to allow rotation, a pair of cranks having first ends connected to both ends of the rotation shaft of the rotation mechanism, respectively, a pair of links having first ends rotatably connected to second ends of the cranks, respectively, and having second ends provided with wheels, respectively, a pair of pedal portions connected to the links along a longitudinal direction of the links, respectively, a rolling surface connected to a first end of the rotation mechanism on a user side, and a restriction portion configured to restrict separation of the wheels from the upper surface of the rolling surface in a case where the first end of the rotation mechanism is lifted such that the rotation mechanism is erected in a state where a second end of the rotation mechanism is grounded.
Abstract:
An exercise machine with adjustable handles that provide for multiple handle positions. The exercise machine with adjustable handles generally includes a frame with one or more rails, a carriage movably positioned upon the rails, and a pair of adjustable handles positioned near an end of the frame. The adjustable handles each have a handle portion that is movably connected to a corresponding handle stanchion to pivot from a storage position to an extended position.
Abstract:
An arm rehabilitation system for exercising a user's arm. The system provides an arm support device moveable upon a support surface by a user's first arm. The arm support device has a main body configured to movably engage the support surface on one side and has a hand support portion on an opposing side at or toward one end of the body for supporting a user's hand of the first arm. A primary hand support formation protrudes from the hand support portion and a secondary hand support handle extends from the main body at or toward the periphery of the hand support portion. An adjustable switch support boom assembly is also mounted to the main body and has at least one operable user input component for generating an actuation signal in response to operation by the user. An onboard motion tracking system mounted to or within the main body is configured to sense motion of the main body to enable user interaction with an interactive computer system running an application program.
Abstract:
An exercise machine ergonomic handle system for providing hand-holds for the performance of exercises with reduced flexion and/or extension of the hand and wrist and reduced ulnar and/or radial deviation so as to reduce injury and allow application of full strength to the exercise machine. The exercise machine ergonomic handle system generally includes a longitudinally extending frame, a carriage that moves upon a first longitudinal portion of the frame, and at least one pair of ergonomic handles positioned on a second longitudinal portion of the frame. The ergonomic handles rotate about an axis to prevent flexion and/or extension, and can be positioned at a width and/or angle that reduces ulnar and/or radial deviation.
