The moulds and the counter-moulds, excepting the first one, are each connected with a feeder of a different plastic material, and the moulds can be moved into alignment with the counter-moulds, for the moulding of respective superimposed layers of different plastic materials by sintering with steam.One mould is suitable to be positioned in correspondence of a zone of unloading of the article produced while at least another mould is in its forming position.

    摘要: A molding composition is disclosed for forming in a single step a natural sandwich foam product having a cellular core and a thick, densified outer layer. A hard, particulate filler material such as fly ash is admixed with an unreacted, rigid polyurethane foam system, together with a density distribution control agent such as carbon tetrachloride which lowers the viscosity of the admixture. In molding, the mold cavity is charged with the admixture and the foam reaction is permitted to occur with the mold closed. The resultant, filled foam product has a thick outer layer formed adjacent the mold surface of substantially greater density than its core. In the densified layer, both the polyurethane and filler material components of the resultant product are concentrated to provide over three times the density of the core structure. Formulations are set forth which provide substantial layer thickness and an outer surface having a durometer hardness value of 50 or greater over the entire surface area. If desired, one or more barrier members may be provided in the mold cavity in order to cause the generation of a densified region in the resultant product at the pressure barrier during the foam reaction, thereby reinforcing the core to increase the structural strength of the product.

    摘要: A method of forming a spring cushion construction comprising a foamed pad having a generally flat inner surface with a depending peripheral edge, the flat inner surface including a dense outer crust. A spring assembly is disposed so that the terminal face portions thereof contact the outer crust and with the depending edge of the pad confiningly receiving the spring assembly to prevent lateral displacement therebetween. The pad is formed by a method which includes foaming a foamable material in an open top mold while leveling the upper surface of the foamable material in a manner which does not interfere with the formation of a dense outer crust thereon. The depending foam edge may then be formed by adding additional foamable material along the periphery of the pad, or by suitably attaching a preformed foam strip therealong.

    摘要: A method of producing integral skin polyurethane foams having densities as low as 1.0 to 3.0 lbs/ft3 and surfaces which may simulate grain leather. The mold surface is first coated with a release agent, then a skin forming agent and then the foamable polyurethane reaction mixture is cast in the coated mold. Representative examples of the skin forming agents are polyester polyether and polyhydrocarbon polyols of two to 10 hydroyxls, hydroxyl containing polymers having a hydrocarbon, polyester or polyether backbone. The above skin forming agents may be applied to the mold surface by incorporation in a suitable solvent such as a low boiling liquid hydrocarbon or ketone. Polyurethane catalysts may also be added to the film forming agent solution. Another group of film forming agents which may be used are particulate materials which have the ability to absorb at least 0.5 grams of water per gram of material. Representative examples are sodium chloride, diatomaceous earth and talc.
