Abstract:
Described is a system for restraining a head of a person. The system comprises headwear having an outer surface and an opening that exposes an interior surface configured to receive the head of a wearer of the headwear, a flexible restraining device having a first end and a second end, each of the first and second ends coupled to the headwear, and a central portion between the two ends, an opening between the restraining device and the headwear, and a vertical support member coupled extending through the opening. The restraining device accommodates the vertical support member holds the headwear in place relative to the vertical support member.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention may include a door for a console box having a door outer, a door inner and a lock mechanism. The door inner is mounted to the door outer, and has a pair of mounting walls. The lock mechanism releasably locks the door at a position where the door closes an opening of a box main body of the console box. The lock mechanism has a knob that is pivotably mounted between the pair of mounting walls and is operated when releasing the lock mechanism. The door outer has a pair of ribs that push the pair of mounting walls away from each other to detach the knob from the mounting walls when the door outer receives a shock toward the door inner.
Abstract:
An airbag having a base end, a front panel and at least one panel opposing the front panel, the airbag having a cutout in the front panel, an inner perimeter of the cutout having first and second sides, a first panel having first and second edges, the first edge of the first panel is attached to the first side of the cutout, a second panel having third and fourth edges, the third edge is attached to the second edge of the first panel and the fourth edge is attached to the second side of the cutout, wherein the first and second panels define a slit in cutout of the front panel, and a tether attached along a backside of the slit and attached to an inner surface of the at least one panel opposing the front panel of the airbag.
Abstract:
A front passenger airbag (5) is described for arrangement in the instrument panel (20) of a motor vehicle. It has an airbag envelope (10) having an impact area (11) and lateral surfaces extending from the impact area (11). In order to use small gas generators and to reduce the danger for a passenger in a non-standard seating position, the impact area (11) is nearly exclusively allocated to the front passenger's (I) head or head and shoulder area, the impact area (11) having a concave shape when the airbag envelope (10) is fully expanded and free of external forces, such that a left and right section of the impact area (11) respectively extend farther into the interior of the motor vehicle than a central section.

Abstract:
A side airbag system is provided with a side airbag for protecting the upper thorax and head area of a vehicle passenger between a lateral vehicle structure and the vehicle passenger, and with a gas generator that is fluidically connected with the side airbag. The side airbag is planar in the deployed condition, and protectively covers a path of motion for the head, along with various seated positions for small and large vehicle passengers. In order to realize an expanded protective potential for the head in semi-convertibles and compact cars, the side airbag, viewed from the lateral vehicle structure, has an outer contour with an essentially continuous bead.

Abstract:
Both ends of a sack-like body are fixed to fastening sections provided in a pillar-like frame in the rearmost part of a vehicle, and the sack-like body is housed along an air bag housing space in a portion of a roof. The sack-like body is composed of a fabric-made article that shrinks longitudinally when extended widthwise. At the time of a rear-end collision, the air bag is inflated by gas supplied from an inflator, and turns into an inflated body, starting from a housed state in the air bag housing space, in such a way that both ends of the air bag are supported by the fastening sections, the inflated shape of the inflated body being restricted by the sack-like body. This inflated body constrains the head sections of vehicle cabin occupants who move rearward due to the rear-end collision.
Abstract:
The resin impact energy absorber for vehicle includes a peripheral wall, a planar portion surrounded by the peripheral wall, and a plurality of first protrusions. The first protrusions are parallel to one another at a predetermined interval in the planar portion. The first protrusion includes a pair of inclined vertical walls and a top wall. The pair of inclined vertical walls projects from the planar portion. The inclined vertical walls face one another. The top wall couples tops of the inclined vertical walls with one another at approximately the same height as the peripheral wall. The inclined vertical walls are inclined at a predetermined inclination angle such that the inclined vertical walls come close to one another as approaching from the planar portion to the top wall. The planar portion includes one plate surface and another plate surface. At least one of them includes an impact load receiving surface.
Abstract:
An air-bag for use in a safety arrangement in a motor vehicle includes a front panel and a rear panel. The two panels are superimposed and attached to one another around their peripheries in order to define an inflatable chamber. The front panel is provided with an aperture within which is secured an additional panel. The additional panel has an area greater than the aperture and is configured so as to define a plurality of adjacent substantially wave-shaped projections which extend forwardly from the front panel when the air-bag is inflated.
