Abstract:
An airbag module has a case-like housing and an open side covered by a protective covering. The protective covering (17), having a pre-set tear line, is fastened at its one end (18) in the interior of the housing (10). With its other, free end (19), the protective covering overlaps the open side (13) of the housing (10) and is secured on a flange (14) outwardly protruding from the housing wall (12) and mounted on the housing (10). The flange (14) has at least one opening (20), immediately adjoining the transition between housing wall (12) and flange (14), for guiding a tongue (22) formed on the free end (19) of the protective covering (17). A holding nose (21) projecting from the housing wall (12) into the opening (20) can be brought into engagement into a holding recess (23) formed in the tongue (22) of the protective covering (17).
Abstract:
Inflatable airbag cushions often have modular components attached to them after the main airbag has been manufactured. Such modular components can include external tethers, mounting tabs, mounting assemblies, and fill tubes. Often, these modular components are positioned at predetermined locations on the airbag. Further, the modular components typically have a predetermined orientation. Employing an alignment aperture and at least one landmark on the airbag can allow a modular component to be positioned correctly along at least one axis of the airbag. Landmarks can include seams, edges, folds, and marks, such as ink from printing. Additional apertures, landmarks and/or hardware can be used to assure proper orientation of the modular component on the airbag. The modular component can be coupled to the airbag by stitching.
Abstract:
In one form, an airbag is provided including an airbag main body formed into a pouch; an inner restricting cloth that comprises a tearable tear line and wraps and restricts the airbag main body that is in a first folded state, folded to achieve bundling toward a predetermined direction, in the bundled direction; and an outer restricting cloth that comprises a tearable tear line and wraps and restricts the airbag main body that is in a second folded state, folded to achieve further bundling from the first folded state toward a direction orthogonal to the predetermined direction, in the bundled direction further on the outside than the inner restricting cloth.
Abstract:
A steering wheel in which a load exerted on an elastic member constituting a dynamic damper can be reduced, the life of the dynamic damper can be extended, and the assembly operation is readily performed. The steering wheel according to the present invention has a first horn plate (11), a second horn plate (21), guide pins (12), stoppers (13), bushes (14), elastic members (15), and coil springs (16); the bushes (14) are divided into first bushes (141) which have first flanges (14a), openings (14b), columnar parts (14c); and recessed parts (14d), and second bushes (142) which have second flanges (14e), openings (14f), and casings (14h); and the columnar parts (14c) are configured so as to be in contact with the second flanges (14e).
Abstract:
A deployment flap can be used with inflatable airbag to reduce the risk of the airbag getting caught between the instrument panel of a vehicle and an out of position occupant. The manner in which the airbag and deployment flap are folded prior to deployment alters their deployment characteristics, such as trajectory.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an airbag comprising a flexible fastening tab (3) having a fastening opening (4) for attachment to a motor vehicle by means of a form-locking element (2), whereby a fastening region (14) and a folding region (15) are constructed in the tab (3), the fastening opening (4) is constructed in the fastening region (14) and a folding opening (5) is constructed in the folding region (15), and whereby the folding opening (5) is dimensioned such that the folding region (15) can fold at least partially over the form-locking element (2).
Abstract:
An airbag device is provided for a motor vehicle. The airbag device includes, but is not limited to a carrying part on the motor vehicle side and an airbag module of an inflatable, folded gas bag fastened to the carrying part and a gas generator for inflating the gas bag. The carrying part includes, but is not limited to a fastening section to which the airbag module is detachably mounted. The airbag module is fastened to the fastening section of the carrying part via a link guide.
Abstract:
An airbag device that may ensure an increased restraining force and a reduction of damage with respect to an occupant that is out of position or of small stature is provided. The airbag device for a passenger seat of the present invention may be disposed inside an instrument panel of a vehicle and protects an occupant inside the vehicle by inflation and deployment of an airbag when an emergency situation occurs. The airbag device includes: an airbag that is compressed into a plurality of layers in a vertical direction when not used, and inflated and deployed when an emergency situation occurs; and a restriction member that restricts the deployment of the airbag so that a deployment direction of an upper layer portion is directed toward an occupant side, wherein the upper layer portion is deployed first from among the plurality of layers of the airbag.
Abstract:
There is provided an airbag device being excellent in performance of protection of an occupant wherein a folded airbag (10) undergoes sequential and orderly expansion starting from a region where the expansion ought to be started. It is characterized in that a gas rectification member (12′) for rectifying and guiding a gas generated from an inflator (30) up to the vicinity of a part of the airbag (10), inflating in the initial expansion thereof, is provided substantially at the central part of the airbag (10).
Abstract:
An airbag cover for maintaining a folded shape of an airbag when the airbag is folded and accommodated within a casing, is designed to bulge from an opening formed on a panel constituting a vehicle inner wall for deploying between the panel and an occupant. The airbag cover includes a flat structure for covering at least a side of the airbag facing the opening before a deployment, and a tear line located on the flat structure and facing the opening so as to allow the airbag to bulge from the opening when deployed by cleaving the flat structure. The tear line is located on a side closer to the occupant relative to a center of the airbag cover in a direction of a vehicle length.
