Abstract: A lid for a cup includes an annular wall with a top rim and a bottom base. The annular wall is insertable substantially in its entirety into a cup wherein an exterior face of the annular wall produces a compressive force against an interior face of the cup sufficient to create a seal along a continuous path circumscribing the interior face of the annular wall of the cup. A surface extends from an interior face of the annular wall and the surface covers an area circumscribed by the annular wall. The surface has a dispensing orifice therein.

Abstract: Substantially similar upper and lower container sections are shaped to cooperate and define an enclosure for receiving the food item, such as a pizza pie, to be delivered in the container. Each of these sections is formed of a substantially square panel, defining a base plane and having four lateral edges of substantially equal length and four corners, as well as depending sidewalls formed integrally with the panel and extending along its lateral edges at an angle with respect to the base plane. Each sidewall is of substantially constant width along the length of the edge. The food item is maintained in a fresh condition by providing a “chimney” at each of the four corners of the container for passage of vapors (e.g., steam) from the inside of the container to the outside. Each chimney has at least one vent, allowing vapors to enter the chimney “flue” from the container and dissipate to the atmosphere when the vapor pressure inside the container exceeds a certain threshold above the atmospheric pressure.

Abstract: There is provided a re-closable closure for a container, wherein the re-closable closure includes a tamper-evident band that provides a stacking surface and stacking step for the stacking of another container and that provides clearance for a membrane lid to seal the opening of the container. The tamper-evident band is connected to a central portion of the closure by a frangible connecting member. The tamper-evident band engages a top edge of the container to connect the closure to the container. After the band has been removed from the central portion and the membrane lid has been removed from the container, the central portion may be connected to the container to re-close the opening of the container. The central portion includes a plug portion that fits into the opening to reseal the container after the initial opening of the container.
