The invention relates to a microduct-tube winder (5) for winding up extruded empty plastics microduct tubes having an outside diameter of about 2 to about 20 mm, having a reel (8) which is rotatable about a rotation axis (16) and has a core (9) arranged between two radially projecting flanges (10), the tube being windable on said core (9), and having a tube guiding device (6), via which the tube is fed to the reel (8), wherein a first transfer point is provided on the tube guiding device (6), the tube losing contact with the tube guiding device (6) at said first transfer point in the operating state of the microduct-tube winder (5), and wherein provision is made of a second transfer point, assigned to the reel, the tube coming into contact with the core (9) or a tube layer wound onto the latter at said second transfer point, wherein the tube guiding device (6); is movable in a transverse plane of the reel (8) and the reel (8) is movable in the direction of its rotation axis (16) such that in the operating state the winding angle (a) at the second transfer point always remains the same. The invention also relates to a double station winder (1) having two such microduct-tube winders (5), to a processing system having a microduct-tube winder (5), to a manufacturing system having an extrusion apparatus and a processing system and to a method for winding up an empty plastics tube.

A guide roller 2 is placed near the outer circumference of a reel body 1a and inclined, around the rotation center C (center of curvature of an R guide 8) located near the outer edge of the guide roller 2 on the side near the reel body 1a as the fulcrum, in a direction in which the roller outer edge recedes from one of reel flanges 1b ahead in the traverse direction on the side apart from the reel body 1a. The inclining direction is switched at the midpoint position between the reel flanges 1b, and with the guide roller 2 being inclined at all times, a reel 1 is rotated while being moved in the axis direction to wind a wire material T on the reel 1.

A support structure rotatably supporting the spool about a rotation shaft, and for translatory movement. A guide arrangement moves the spool reciprocally such that the reciprocal motion of the support structure is along a direction that is parallel to the axis of rotation of the shaft. The rod is thereby accumulated on the spool in a spiral manner with minimal lateral deflection. In one form the spool is reciprocal relative to its support shaft. In another a support structure is reciprocal with the spool.

The deflection sheave sequentially moves progressively farther away from the take-up reel in response to information provided by a proximity sensor which detects the position of the outermost filament layer accumulating on the reel. A cable storage reel for a hoist is provided with a drum having a plurality of spaced concentric grooves to receive the cable thereon. The reel is mounted upon an elongated bearing and is free to slide longitudinally thereon. The drum of the reel is provided with a longitudinal gap traversing the concentric grooves. The reel is also keyed to the elongated bearing. An elastomeric roller is freely carried adjacent the storage reel with the reel flanges in frictional contact with the roller. When the reel is driven by the bearing to take up the cable, the cable as it reaches the gap, crosses over to the next concentric groove causing the reel to move laterally along the elongated bearing, the flanges to follow a helical path across the roller to drive the reel laterally and to level wind the cable.

Level winding is accomplished by rotating a reel with sufficient torque to wind material on the reel while traversing the reel a predetermined precise fractional part of the width of the material wound for each increment of revolution of the reel so that the reel is traversed precisely the width of the material wound plus a precise space between adjacent turns, if desired, during each revolution of the reel. Pulses indicative of the extent of rotation of the reel are transformed, by dividing, into pulses indicative of both the extent of rotation of the reel and the desired distance between centers of adjacent turns of the material wound onto the reel. The pulses rotate a first synchrotransducer electrically connected to a second synchrotransducer which is driven in response to traverse of the reel. An error signal resulting from any non-synchronism of the synchrotransducers is used to operate a servo-valve which changes the rate of traverse in a direction to reduce the error signal.
