The winder further comprises a binding element removably connectable to the winding assembly for rotating therewith about the axis and for binding a flexible member wound in a coiled configuration on the hub by a turning of the winding assembly about the axis. At least one of the discs is removably attached to the hub for enabling a removal from the winding assembly of the flexible member in the coiled configuration together with the binding element.

    摘要: A thin, flat package of heat sealed thermoplastic material is filled with plastic string trimmer line by inserting a mandrel into an opening in the rear wall of the package to receive the free end of a length of string trimmer line inserted through a slot in the periphery of the package to engage the mandrel. The mandrel is rotated while the package is held in a relatively fixed position to wind line onto the mandrel and, therefore, into the package, until the package is filled. The mandrel then is withdrawn, leaving the free end of the line accessible through the opening in the rear wall, and the other end of the line extends from the slot in the periphery of the package.

    摘要: This invention involves the formation of a self-supporting coil of flaccid product with a take-up spool having a unique composite mandrel. The mandrel of the take-up spool comprises at least two complimentary components, including an expandable mandrel and a tapered ring, each of which is attached to one of the flanges of spool at the hub of each flange. The expandable mandrel component of the composite mandrel consists essentially of a plurality of curvilinear sections arranged about a central axis so as to form a cylinder which can permanently affixed to one flange of the spool; and, a tapered ring that is releasably affixed to the other flange of said take-up spool. The relative diameter of each one of the expandable mandrel and the tapered ring permit insertion of the ring into the open end of the expandable mandrel, and thereby assembly and locking each of the components thereof into a unitary spool structure. The assembly of the components of the spool causes the tapered ring to exert radial forces upon the interior of the expandable mandrel, and thereby radial displacement of its curvilinear surface and an increase in its cross-sectional diameter of the expandable mandrel. The take-up spool of this invention is reusable and can be used to form a self-supporting coil of banded flaccid product.

    摘要: The invention disclosed here is a wire reel that is designed to be used in connection with an automated wire handling system. The reel has a generally planar stiffback, and a circular flange that is releasably connected to the stiffback. The stiffback and flange together define a circular winding space for coiling a wire onto the reel. The stiffback also carries two, spaced-apart clamps which are positioned outwardly with respect to the outer perimeter of the flange. These clamps hold the opposite ends of the coiled wire. The stiffback is shaped so that it is suitable for gripping and handling by a robotic arm or the like.

    摘要: An apparatus for forming coil windings includes a support rod and a pair of flanges that may be mounted in a selected position along the support rod. A plurality of pivotal arms cooperatively engage the flanges. Coil forming guide rods are received in brackets mounted in sliding engagement in an elongated slot extending in each arm. A measuring gauge is provided to set the guide rods in the desired position for producing a particular size winding. A series of clamps are then tightened to positively hold the arms and brackets in position.
