    摘要: The rail sleeper (10) is provided with a sleeper body (12) comprising one rail contact area (16) on each of the opposing ends thereof, within which the sleeper body (12) is widened. A rail (24) may be fixed in each rail contact area (16) by means of a hold-down element (28) able to grip a rail foot. Each rail contact area (16) comprises three rail contact surfaces (18) adjacent to one another in the extension of the rail (24). At least one hold-down element (28) is disposed between and above at least one partial region of respective adjacent rail contact surfaces (18) of each rail contact area (16). The sleeper body (12) is free of reinforcement elements within each rail contact area (16) on both sides of the intermediate spaces between adjacent rail contact surfaces (18).

    摘要: A railroad tie 10 is described. The tie includes elongated side surfaces 23 with a plurality of ballast locking indentations 34 formed therein. The indentations converge from open upward ends 35 to reduced bottom ends 36. The configuration of the locking indentations at the bottom ends is such that the indentations will receive the maximum aggregate size within the ballast. The tie body, provided with the indentations, and relationship of the sides 23 to the indentations 34 is such that maximum resistance is offered by the tie to longitudinal movement of the tie in the ballast with respect to the tie length dimension.

    摘要: A multiplicity of step-shaped sleepers or ties each having two straight end segments interconnected by a middle portion inclined at obtuse angles with respect to the end segments are each joined at their respective end segments to two adjacent sleepers by means of rib plates to form a zig-zag sleeper network underlying a pair of parallel spaced-apart rails in a railway roadbed assembly. The sleepers are formed from I-beam profiles; a plurality of channel profiles extending parallel to the rails below the sleeper network are connected to the rib plates by bolts traversing the sleepers, the channels being embedded in the ground or in a concrete track bed to prevent lateral displacement of the railway assembly. A method of forming Y-shaped ties includes the bending of I-beam profiles in a press die assembly, welding the profiles together and filling interbeam spaces with a weight-increasing corrosion-retarding material such as concrete.

    摘要: A tie cap rail holder for securing a railroad rail to its supporting tie comprises a cap dimensioned to seat gravitationally over the top of the tie in a restricted, longitudinally slidable fit. The cap has on its upper surface a rail seat dimensioned to receive the rail base. On one side of the rail seat an upwardly and inwardly extending detent is dimensioned and positioned for engaging and retaining the adjacent side margin of the rail base. A plurality of the holders are adapted for opposite placement on adjacent ties, with their respective detents engaging opposite side margins of the rail base, thereby securing the rail to the ties.
