    摘要: The present invention relates to such a water cooling device of a vertical multi-cylinder engine as mentioned below. The water cooling device of the vertical multi-cylinder engine comprises a cylinder block (1) one side wall of which is provided with a side water passage (3) running along a longitudinal direction of the cylinder block (1). The cylinder block (1) has an interior area provided with a cylinder jacket (4). Cooling water from a radiator is introduced into the cylinder jacket (4) through the side water passage (3). The side water passage (3) has an outlet (5) opposed to a lower portion of the cylinder jacket (4).

    摘要: A restoration sleeve for the remanufacture of cast iron engine blocks or aluminum blocks with cast iron liners includes a sleeve formed of cast iron and having a relatively thin wall, a selected length, an outer diameter to achieve a non-interference fit within an overbored cylinder, an inner diameter equal to the original specifications of the original manufacturer of the engine block, and a helical cross hatched inner surface finish. The sleeves are manufactured by placing an unfinished sleeve in a boring fixture, boring the inner surface to a selected diameter, transferring the bored sleeve to a honing fixture, and honing the inner surface to the required diameter and surface finish. An adhesive is applied to the restoration sleeve and the overbored block cylinders, and the sleeves are inserted into the overbored cylinders wherein the adhesive is allowed to cure to thereby adhesively retain the sleeves within the block. A fluorescent dye is used in the adhesive for inspection by ultraviolet light to insure continuous and complete application of the adhesive to the restoration sleeve and the bored cylinder surface.

    摘要: Cylinder liners of internal combustion engines must be adequately cooled to obviate oil degradation, carbon packing in the ring area, and piston seizure. The engine includes a block which cooperates with the cylinder liners to define an upper and lower axially spaced coolant chambers. A sleeve is located in a groove defined in the cylinder liner and disposed between the upper and lower coolant chambers. The sleeve and the cylinder liner define a plurality of circumferentially spaced venturi throats. The venturi throats provide a relative long flow path and controls the flow rate of the coolant being communicated from the lower coolant chamber to the upper coolant chamber in order to dissipate heat away from the cylinder liner.

    摘要: An improved cylinder block for a high compression internal combustion engine is provided which includes a cooling jacket having interconnected peripheral side and end walls and a base section, and at least one cylinder tube disposed within and encompassed by the jacket wall. The tube extends upwardly from and is connected to the jacket base section. The upper end portion of the tube adjacent the top surface of the block is reinforced by a plurality of substantially radial supports extending from the tube exterior to the interior surface of the jacket wall. The supports provide substantial radial reinforcement as compared to vertical reinforcement of the tube, particularly in the area thereof which is subjected to the greatest pressure during operation of the engine.
