Abstract:
A fastener is provided. The fastener includes a housing with a housing opening and a collet body at least partially enclosed within the housing, the collet body includes a crown having a crown opening with a threaded section and a leg that extends from the crown and including a foot. The fastener further includes a screw with a head positioned in the housing opening, an upper threaded section, and a lower unthreaded section, where the housing opening and the crown include a set of splined protrusions and a set of splined recesses mated with one another, where the sets of splined protrusions and recesses include ramps and are designed to permit the collet body and the screw to transition into a free-spin configuration, and where a spring is designed to exert a return force on the collet body or the screw when the fastener is in the free-spin configuration.
Abstract:
A blind rivet, for connecting workpieces, comprising a hollow, deformable rivet body with a bearing collar and a sleeve attached thereto, a rivet mandrel in the sleeve and extending through the bearing collar, having a tool holder head, and a sealing ring. The sealing ring is arranged between the bearing collar and the tool holder head and is made of a curable and not fully cured sealing material. During contraction of the blind rivet, the sealing ring is pressed axially towards the bearing collar by a tool that can be connected to the tool holder head or by a section of the rivet mandrel. The sealing ring is designed to flow radially and axially into gaps and spaces on the bearing collar and between the bearing collar and the workpieces while the sealing ring is compressed, and to adhere there.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is related to a snap system including a mating component and a snap component that connect by means of a snap fit or otherwise. The mating component simplifies the assembly process by combining a structural component and an attachment point. The snap component is associated with a removable component that mates with the attachment point of the mating component. The snap system includes a mating component that combines a structural component to secure a material and an attachment point to secure a snap component. The design of the structural component allows the mating component to be used with a variety of materials having a variable thickness. The mating component is a versatile feature as the structural component self-adjusts to the thickness of the material provided. The snap system decreases the amount of components necessary for manufacturing, which may decrease the cost, as well as improve the visual appeal.
Abstract:
A blind rivet setting method enables a modified step approach to grip and pull multiple diameters of blind rivet mandrels to fracture, easily feed the remaining spent mandrel portion through a blind rivet tool, and collect and more efficiently dispose of substantially shortened spent mandrel portions when a blind rivet mandrel collection system is utilized.
Abstract:
The invention concerns an article comprising a first part fitted with flexible lugs, a second part with a foot configured to be moved in rotation in relation to the first part, and with a head to which the foot is connected, and a blocking element, a guide zone and a locking zone configured to allow the rotation then the locking in rotation of the second part in relation to the first part, in order for the article to pass from a waiting configuration, in which the element is in the guide zone and the lugs are in a rest position, to a locked configuration in which the element is in the locking zone, the lugs are in a working position in which they are spaced in relation to the rest position and the second part is blocked in relation to the first part.
Abstract:
A blind rivet arrangement (1) is described, comprising multiple rivet bodies (3, 3a, 3b) arranged in succession on a mandrel (2), the mandrel (2) having a mandrel head (8) with an outside diameter which is greater than an inside diameter of the rivet bodies (3, 3a, 3b). The aim is to provide an inexpensive way to produce a blind rivet arrangement that works effectively. To this end the mandrel (2) and the mandrel head (8) are designed as parts that are produced separately and joined together.
Abstract:
An articulated device includes a rivet assembly for connecting first and second linkage assembly support arms together at common ends thereof such that the arms are movable relative to one another. The rivet assembly includes a rivet having first and second rivet heads and a rivet shaft. The rivet shaft extends through first and second bearing holes in the common ends of the arms with the first rivet head being on the first arm and the second rivet head being on the second arm. The rivet assembly has a bearing sleeve extending between the rivet shaft and the bearing holes. The bearing sleeve has a collar-type stop and a shoulder-type stop adjacent the first rivet head with the collar-type stop lying against the first arm and the shoulder-type stop lying against the first rivet head. The bearing sleeve has a ring-shaped stop lying against the second rivet head.
Abstract:
A blind rivet having a rivet sleeve and a pin, the rivet sleeve having a sleeve head for contact with a visible-side workpiece surface and a sleeve shank and a through hole, through which the pin is guided, the pin having a blind-side pin head for contact in the region of a blind-side end of the sleeve shank, and the sleeve shank having a first forming section and a second forming section which is arranged axially spaced apart from the first forming section and closer to the sleeve head, a first intermediate section being formed between the first and the second forming section, which first intermediate section, during setting of the blind rivet, can form a first blind head which can be formed at axially different points in order to set up different clamping thicknesses.
Abstract:
A blind fastener including a core bolt having a shank with a head and a threaded portion, and a sleeve having an elongated body with a head, an internal threaded portion, and a tapered notch formed within an exterior surface thereof and defined by a tapered portion having a slope and a frictional enhanced surface. The core bolt is installed within the sleeve such that its threaded portion engages threadedly the internal threaded portion of the sleeve. During installation of the fastener within the plurality of workpieces, a bulb is formed on the elongated body of the sleeve, the bulb defining a portion of a bulbed portion. When a selected axial force is reached, the bulbed portion separates from the elongated body and engages axially the tapered portion of the sleeve, increasing the diameter of the bulb which engages a blind side of one of the workpieces.
Abstract:
A conventional blind rivet tool with modified nose housing, i.e., a rivet gun with replaceable and interchangeable nosepieces, facilitates feeding and setting of multiple diameters of blind rivets with substantially shortened exposed mandrel portions extending beyond the head flange of the rivet, all while maintaining blind rivet performance and reducing total installed blind rivet costs. A rivet with a reduced exposed mandrel protrusion relative to conventional and standardized mandrels can be enabled and more easily fed through the tool.
