    摘要: An auxiliary lubrication system for an aircraft turbine engine includes a reservoir 32 of lubricant 50 and a venturi 42 to suction lubricant out of the reservoir and direct an lubricant mist at a bearing 24 or other component requiring lubrication. The venturi is directly connected to a source of motive fluid, such as pressurized air extracted from an engine flowpath 10, and is continuously driven by the motive fluid. The auxiliary system accommodates a failure or malfunction of the primary, high pressure lubrication system. The auxiliary system operates during normal conditions, when the primary system is fully functional. If the primary system fails, the auxiliary system continues to operate for a limited time, until the lubricant in the reservoir is depleted, to provide an lubricant mist to the component being lubricated. The limited-duration lubricant supply allows the aircraft crew time to carry out actions required to safeguard the aircraft and its occupants.

    摘要: A modular oil monitor for a gas turbine engine includes a mounting pad having a seat with a plurality of oil inner ports disposed therein and joined in flow communication with an oil tank and an oil sump of the engine. A module having a base is removably fixedly joined to the seat, with the base having a plurality of oil outer ports disposed therein and joined in flow communication with respective ones of the inner ports. The module also includes a filter circuit disposed in flow communication between first and second ones of the outer ports, with the filter circuit including an oil filter removably joined to the module for filtering supply oil channeled therethrough. A first sensor is removably joined to the module for measuring the oil temperature or pressure. The module provides at one location various lubricating system components which may be individually inspected or replaced. Or, the entire module may be replaced in one operation.

    摘要: A pre-oiling system for automatically injecting oil into the oil gallery lubricating system of an automotive engine prior to start up. The assembly includes an outer vessel, a manifold valve block, which is attached to the outer vessel and includes a solenoid valve, and a control circuit for logic control of the solenoid valve. An air replenishment assembly is positioned on the outer vessel permitting measurement of the pressure in the outer vessel and also allowing for air to be added to the outer vessel to pressurize oil contained within the outer vessel. In one embodiment, the air replenishment assembly includes a schrader valve which provides replacement air to the outer vessel and the spare tire. Oil is automatically injected into the oil gallery lubricating system upon the engine starting. Specifically, the solenoid valve is opened in response to the engine being started which allows pressurized oil to flow from the outer vessel to the oil gallery of the engine. During operation of the engine, oil is pumped into the outer vessel and the air is pressurized for subsequent starting operations of the engine. In one embodiment, the outer vessel also includes an additional inner vessel that has pressurized air and oil which will provide the oil upon the engine turning off to a turbocharger.

    摘要: An air-oil separating arrangement in a gas turbine engine having a sump with a rotatable annular wall structure includes an annular section of the sump wall structure having a plurality of circumferentially spaced air metering orifices defined therein, and an air-oil separator having a circular plate attached to the annular section of the sump wall structure and rotatable therewith. The circular plate has a pair of opposite faces and a plurality of separator fins attached to and extending from one face of the plate. The separator fins are circumferentially spaced from one another and extend radially from the center of the plate and define spaces therebetween which are in flow communication with the orifices through the annular section of the sump wall structure. The engine also includes a center vent passage aligned with the center of the separator plate such that when oil particle-laden pressurized air flows from the sump through the metering orifices and radially inwardly through the radial spaces between the separator fins into the center vent passage, the oil particles carried by the air will be impacted by the fins and centrifugally ejected in an outward radial direction back outwardly through the metering orifices and thereby separated from the air flow through the separator and returned to the sump.
