    摘要: A device for automatically metering precise amounts of a lubricant to an apparatus requiring periodic lubrication. The device comprises a reservoir to contain the lubricant and a conduit connects the pressure side of the apparatus with the reservoir so that a positive pressure is maintained on the lubricant within the reservoir. A discharge line connects the reservoir with the apparatus requiring lubrication and the flow of lubricant through the discharge line is controlled by a solenoid-operated valve. In addition to the solenoid valve, an adjustable needle valve is located between the solenoid-operated valve and the apparatus and functions to adjust the rate of flow of the lubricant when the solenoid valve is opened. The flow through the discharge line can be viewed through a sight glass located downstream of the needle valve. Operation of the system is automatically controlled by a dualtimer arrangement including a cycle timer which sets the periodic cycle of lubrication and opens the solenoid valve through a timedelay relay. The time-delay relay sets the time of lubrication for each cycle.

    摘要: A system is disclosed for supplying a lubricant to a bearing assembly, such as that in a gyroscope of a spacecraft. The system includes a housing which is connected to the bearing assembly and which forms a pressurized chamber. A collapsible member, such as a bellows, in the pressurized chamber houses a supply of lubricant. One or more valves regulate and control the flow of lubricant from the collapsible member to the bearing assembly. In response to the actuation of the valves, flow of lubricant is caused by pressure exerted on the collapsible member. Lubricant flow conduits may also be formed within the housing, so that lubricant may be provided directly to a portion of the bearing assembly.

    摘要: A pre-start engine oiler for internal combustion engines provides a pressurized charge of oil to the lubricating system when the ignition key is turned to the on position and prior to engaging the starter. A reservoir connected with a valve body is supplied with oil under pressure from the engine lubricating system through a check valve disposed in an oil passage in the body when the oil pump pressure exceeds the reservoir pressure during the course of operation. The oil passage is connected by an oil line to an existing oil conduit by a tee or to an adapter installed between the oil filter and the engine block. Oil ports above and below the check valve extend between the oil passage and a piston chamber containing a sliding piston which normally closes flow through the oil ports. The piston is retracted by a solenoid connected in series to the ignition circuit through an electronic timer and switch. When the ignition key is turned to the on position and before it reaches the start position to engage the starter, the solenoid is energized to retract the piston and rapidly discharge the pressurized oil from the reservoir through the oil ports and into the oil galley at a pressure approximately equal to the greatest oil pressure produced by the oil pump prior to the engine being turned off.

    摘要: The present disclosure sets forth an adapter for installation on an automobile engine in lieu of a disposable cartridge filter. The adapter includes inlet and outlet fittings. The inlet and outlet fittings connect through a pair of flexible hoses to a raised filter housing installed at an elevated location in the engine compartment. The system also includes an oil reservoir which accumulates oil under pressure where the oil under pressure is stored until engine starting. This enhances lubrication within the engine at the upper portions thereof to avoid dry starting which occurs when the oil otherwise settles to the bottom of the engine. The reservoir in conjunction with the filter housing operates with selected valves and checkvalves so a hydrostatic head of oil pressure is achieved even when the engine is not operating.

    摘要: A pre-oiling system for automatically injecting oil into the oil gallery lubricating system of an automotive engine prior to start up. The assembly includes an outer vessel, a manifold valve block, which is attached to the outer vessel and includes a solenoid valve, and a control circuit for logic control of the solenoid valve. An air replenishment assembly is positioned on the outer vessel permitting measurement of the pressure in the outer vessel and also allowing for air to be added to the outer vessel to pressurize oil contained within the outer vessel. In one embodiment, the air replenishment assembly includes a schrader valve which provides replacement air to the outer vessel and the spare tire. Oil is automatically injected into the oil gallery lubricating system upon the engine starting. Specifically, the solenoid valve is opened in response to the engine being started which allows pressurized oil to flow from the outer vessel to the oil gallery of the engine. During operation of the engine, oil is pumped into the outer vessel and the air is pressurized for subsequent starting operations of the engine. In one embodiment, the outer vessel also includes an additional inner vessel that has pressurized air and oil which will provide the oil upon the engine turning off to a turbocharger.
