Abstract: A wire mesh burner plate for use in large, gas burners for large ovens is comprised of spaced-apart wire mesh plates. The spacing between the wire mesh plates defines an air/fuel mixture space. The fuel passes through the lower or first mesh, experiences a pressure drop, mixes with air and passes through a second wire mesh. The gas combusts after passing through the second wire mesh. The fine gauge of the mesh prevents combustion from flowing backwardly into the fuel/air mixture space. Several individual wire mesh burner plates can be flexibly attached to each other such that a very wide space can be covered. Thermal stresses are reduced by being distributed across multiple burners.

Abstract: A micro gas burner is provided that generates a stable, pre-mixed flame that produces little to no soot or unburned hydrocarbons. The gas burner includes a fuel inlet, nozzle, oxygenation chamber with at least one air inlet, a mixing chamber having a frustoconical inner wall, at least one permeable barrier and a flame holder. The gas burner thoroughly mixes fuel and entrained air to form a nearly stoichiometric mixture prior to combustion. The gas burner mixes the fuel and air so thoroughly that it requires a lower fuel flow rate than would otherwise be necessary to produce a stable, pre-mixed flame. The gas burner may include an optional flame tube with an optional exhaust port in which a flame is contained and sequestered from diffusing air.

Abstract: A segmented radiant gas burner features wide modulation of thermal output simply by the independent control of fuel gas flow to each burner segment. The burner also features a porous fiber burner face, preferably having dual porosities, and a metal liner positioned to provide a compact combustion zone adjacent the burner face. The segmented radiant burner is ideally suited for use with gas turbines not only because of its compactness and broad thermal modulation but also because only the flow of fuel gas to each burner segment requires control while the flow of compressed air into all segments of the burner remains unchanged.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method for producing a flame support for a gas burner, which consists in producing disjointed metal fibres (10) in an alloy comprising iron, chromium and aluminium; assembling the fibres together under pressure; bringing the fibre mat to a temperature sufficient to ensure a close bonding between the fibres. The invention is characterised in that it consists in feeding said metal alloy to an overflowing tank (3), to produce the fibres by cooling in contact with a mobile wheel (7); then in arranging in a moulding matrix the resulting disjointed fibres (10) and compressing them to form an agglomerated mat; then in connecting the mat to electrodes and a capacitor, thereby bringing the fibres (10), at their points of contact, to a temperature not less than their melting point, to produce fibres closely welded together, under high voltage.

A superemissive advanced emissive matrix in is disposed within an active flame zone downstream from the porous distributive layer. The emissive matrix is in the form of a three dimensional matrix of radiating bodies that is optically thin to electromagnetic radiation. The emissive matrix is either formed from or includes a coating of a superemissive material that is selected to emit photons within a predetermined wavelength range when thermally stimulated. The emitted photons are received by one or more photovoltaic cells disposed adjacent the matrix.
