摘要: A method is provided for indicating that a water heater has ceased to produce water at a temperature useful for sanitizing procedures. A temperature sensor is deployed at or near the water heater, such as adjacent a water line extending from the water heater. The temperature sensor provides a signal having at least one parameter that relates to the temperature of the water exiting the water heater. In the event that the temperature falls below a level useful for sanitizing procedures, an alarm is activated. The alarm may be located locally or remote.

摘要: An automatic flushing system for a potable water station includes a conduit having a first end connected to a potable water supply source and a second end having a nozzle coupling. It also includes an air gap assembly having a coupling operable for coupling with the nozzle coupling to releasably connect the conduit to the air gap assembly in a stored position. Further, the system includes a control system operable for automatically flushing potable water through the conduit and the air gap assembly after exceeding a predetermined time in which a predetermined minimum threshold temperature is exceeded and a predetermined time during which the potable water station has remained idle. A method for automatically flushing a potable water station includes the step of providing the potable water station with a conduit having a first end connected to a potable water supply source and having a second end remote therefrom. It also includes the steps of coupling the second end of the conduit to an air gap assembly in a stored position of the potable water station, and automatically flushing potable water through the conduit and the air gap assembly of the potable water station. The method performs the step of automatically flushing after: a) a predetermined minimum threshold temperature has been exceeded for a predetermined time, and b) the potable water station has remained idle for a predetermined time.

摘要: A thermal treatment system for supplying thermally conditioned or purified water for human or animal consumption, industrial processes, environmental containment, or removal of foreign species. The water purifier includes a heat exchanger for exchanging heat between outgoing thermally conditioned or purified water and incoming makeup water; a water heater is connected to the heat exchanger so as to receive pre-heated incoming makeup water, where the water heater subsequently heats the incoming preheated makeup water to a set-point temperature in the case of thermally conditioned water and for purified water also holds the water for a period of time sufficient to inactivate selected organisms to a predetermined level. The heat exchanger has one or more treated water outlets for supplying thermally conditioned or purified water at selected temperatures.

摘要: A hot water tempering system for use with a standard water heater storage tank includes a heat exchanger interposed between the hot water outlet means and the cold water inlet means for transferring heat from hot water exiting from the tank to cold water entering the tank. In this way the temperature of the hot water is tempered. The system is characterized by the fact that the cold water inlet means comprises a first conduit which passes through the heat exchanger to receive heat transferred from the hot water, and a second conduit which bypasses the heat exchanger and delivers cold water directly to the tank. The two inlet conduits are connected to a cold water mains inlet by way of a diverter valve which, in response to the water temperature in the upper region of the tank apportions the water flow between the two conduits. The system enables water to be stored in the tank at a moderately high temperature for demand management purposes and bacterial growth control while minimizing the risk of scalding a user.

摘要: A hot water tempering system tempers the output of a hot water storage tank by mixing that output with a cold water flow in a defined ratio to produce a flow of water at a steady intermediate temperature. The system comprises a bypass line connectable between an inlet line and an outlet line of the storage tank, and a proportional flow controller for controlling the relative water flow rates through the tank and through the bypass line. The flow controller may be positioned on the inlet line and the bypass line, or on the outlet line and the bypass line. The tempering system allows the temperature of water in the storage tank to be maintained near the boiling point for killing organisms, but at the same time ensures that water leaves the system at a temperature sufficiently low to be safe for human use.

摘要: A valve arrangement comprises first and second valves mechanically interconnected for synchronous operation with one another so as to be switchable by a single action between first and second fluid flow configurations. The first configuration provides a first path for first fluid to flow from a first inlet to a first outlet and a second path for second fluid to flow from a second inlet to a second outlet. The second configuration provides paths for first fluid to flow from the first inlet to both the first and second outlets while closing the path from the second inlet. In one application, the arrangement allows a convenient method of disinfecting a water-consuming appliance such as a shower.
