Abstract:
A virtual system control apparatus includes: a configuration information storage device to store configuration information for an operational system of a virtual system; a first virtual machine image storage device to store first virtual machine images for the operational system of the virtual system; a configuration change information storage device to store configuration change information that represents configuration information concerning difference between the operational system of the virtual system and plural types of test systems; a second virtual machine image storage device to store second virtual machine images for a virtual machine relating to the difference; and a controller. By adopting such data configuration of the operational system and the test system, it becomes possible to switch easily and smoothly between the operational system and the test system.
Abstract:
A method for simultaneously performing diagnosing and image downloading of a custom-configured computer is disclosed. The method includes receiving a shipping image, extracting the shipping image into a hard disk drive, partitioning a portion in a unused storage space of the hard disk drive, installing a test operating system in the portion of the hard disk drive, deleting all data corresponding to the shipping image of the hard disk drive, writing storage data of the hard disk drive into a shipping hard disk drive of at least one custom-configured computer, writing data corresponding to the shipping image in a network server into the shipping hard disk drive during the test operating system performs diagnosing of the custom-configured computer, and writing a master boot record corresponding to the shipping image into the shipping hard disk drive.
Abstract:
A test method including executing a data transfer instruction with regard to transfer of data between a plurality of multiplexed storage devices and a plurality of main systems logically connected to the plurality of storage devices, storing an initial value of an operand upon execution of the data transfer instruction, re-setting the stored initial value to the operand upon occurrence of an interrupt triggered by an exception, and repeatedly executing the data transfer instruction and re-setting the stored initial value to the operand, by the main system accessing the storage device, until the data transfer instruction is completed normally.
Abstract:
A method for verifying an input/output (I/O) hardware configuration is provided. A verification command is processed. The verification command includes a software device address range associated with a logical control unit (LCU) of the I/O hardware. The LCU utilizes a first logical path. The software device address range utilizing the first logical path is compared with an existing software device address range utilizing at least one additional logical path. The verification command is accepted if the software device address range and the existing software device address range match.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to initiate a basic input/output system (BIOS) recovery are disclosed herein. An example BIOS recovery module includes a memory storing one or more signatures to be detected by a detector of a BIOS implemented on a computing platform; and a connector to couple the module to a data display channel of the computing platform, wherein a BIOS recovery mechanism of the BIOS is to initiate in response to the detector detecting the one or more signatures of the module via the data display channel.
Abstract:
Automated estimation that a hardware or software change is correlated with one or more problem events. In addition to identifying that a change has occurred, one or more problem events are identified that have occurred after the change. Problem events are then correlated with the change using a distance measure between the change and the at least one correlated problem event. For most, if not all, of the distance measure, the greater the distance measure, the less the change is correlated with each correlated problem event. The distance measure may be a time interval, an activity-weighted interval, or any other type of distance measure.
Abstract:
Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture wherein a determination is made of a subset of all possible interoperable combinations of components of a computing system, wherein the components comprise selected elements of the computing system. One or more testing criteria are stored, wherein a testing criteria provides indications of characteristics of one or more of the components of the computing system. A selection is made of a number of interoperable combinations of the components from the subset of interoperable combinations of the components, based on the stored one or more testing criteria. The selected interoperable combinations are tested, wherein the selected interoperable combinations are fewer in number than the subset of interoperable combinations.
Abstract:
A method and system for analyzing resource needs for a configurable computing system representing the configuration in a tree structure. The tree structure has a plurality of nodes representing stored data. A first set of the nodes comprises childless nodes and a second set of the nodes comprises parent nodes. Each parent node has at least one child node. The method for analyzing comprises the steps of: (a) determining the worst case resource needs of the childless nodes during an execution cycle by evaluating the worst case values of any selected attributes that the childless node may have; (b) determining the worst case resource needs of the parent nodes during an execution cycle; and, (c) recursively applying the rules used for evaluating the worst case resource needs of the individual nodes, above, starting with a root node of the plurality of nodes, to determine the worst case resource needs of the entire tree structure.
Abstract:
To facilitate evaluation, testing and/or configuration of an electronic device, one or more interactive setting diagrams are provided in the form of a block diagram for showing inter-relationships of functional blocks of the device, and/or a diagram for showing signal processing functions of the device. In the case of an audio IC for example, respective block diagrams may be provided for audio routing, for clocking, for general purpose I/IO, and so on. Likewise, signal processing may be represented by diagrams for configuring filters and ALC. The diagrams are displayed on a display of a computer, having an input device which the user operates to change settings of the device. The user can interact directly with the interactive setting diagram by manipulating graphical controls incorporated into the diagram. Thus, for example, an audio path can be set by clicking on a signal line shown in the diagram, or filter settings modified by moving sliders displayed alongside a filter characteristic graph. Settings made in this way can be recorded for future re-use and/or reflected immediately in a register map of the device which may be connected to the computer via an evaluation board and interface.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and machine-readable mediums are disclosed for validating a system environment for a software application. In one embodiment, an input file having a plurality of validation tests identifiers identifying validation tests to validate a system environment for an application is read. At least a portion of the validation tests are executed. The results of the validation tests are outputted.
