Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a trailer tracking apparatus (2) for monitoring movement of a trailer (3) connected to a vehicle (1). The trailer tracking apparatus (2) has a controller (5) comprising an electronic processor (6) having an electrical input for receiving image data (DAT) from an imaging sensor (10) disposed on the vehicle (1). An electronic memory device (7) having instructions stored therein is electrically coupled to the electronic processor (6). The electronic processor (6) is configured to access the memory device (7) and to execute the instructions stored therein. The electronic processor (6) is operable to select a subset of said image data (DATSUB1). One or more element (16) are detected and monitored within the selected subset (DATSUB1) of said image data (DAT). The electronic processor (6) determines movement of the trailer (3) relative to the vehicle (1) in dependence on evolution of said one or more detected element (16) with respect to time. The present disclosure also relates to a method of tracking a trailer (3); and to a vehicle (1) incorporating the trailer tracking apparatus (2).

Abstract: Velocity controllers in accordance with embodiments of the invention enable velocity estimation for tracked objects. One embodiment includes a tracker controller, including: a processor; and a memory containing: a velocity tracker application; a state space describing relationships between measured locations, calculated locations, and changes in locations, where the calculated locations in the state space correspond to unoccluded points on the surface of the tracked object; wherein the processor is configured by the velocity tracker application to: pre-process the state space to identify a tracked object; estimate a velocity of the tracked object using a location history calculated from the measured locations of the tracked object within the state space and a motion model calculated from the state space; and return the velocity of the tracked object.

The object tracking device includes a processor and a memory, wherein the processor includes an image preprocessing module; a super-pixel matching module; and a background masking module configured to mask a super-pixel image having a matching area, in order to obtain a super-pixel masked image whose background area outside of the matching area is masked. The present invention is able to eliminate obstacles from a output area by a way of background masking, accurately and stably tracking the object.

Abstract: Systems and methods for tracking interacting objects may acquire, with a sensor, and two or more images associated with two or more time instances. A processor may generate image data from the two or more images. The processor may apply an extended Probability Occupancy Map (POM) algorithm to the image data to obtain probability of occupancy for a container class of potentially interacting objects, probability of occupancy for a containee class of the potentially interacting objects, and a size relationship of the potentially interacting objects, over a set of discrete locations on a ground plane for each time instance. The processor may estimate trajectories of an object belonging to each of the two classes by determining a solution of a tracking model on the basis of the occupancy probabilities and a set of rules describing the interaction between objects of different or the same classes.

Abstract: A state estimation apparatus appropriately estimates the internal state of an observation target by calculating a likelihood from observation data, and tracks, for example, multiple objects in a moving image and detects a new object and adds the object as a tracking target in an appropriate manner. A labeling unit detects a closed area from an observation image, and adds a label number to the closed area to generate a label image. A likelihood obtaining unit generates an object-erased image for new object detection by erasing image areas corresponding to all the currently-tracked objects. The apparatus performs the process for detecting a new object using the object-erased image for new object detection based on label numbers. The apparatus is appropriately prevented from erroneously determining that an area of the object-erased image for new object detection corresponding to the currently-tracked object and remaining after the erasure corresponds to a new object.

Abstract: A method for tracking an object in an image sequence with at least a first image and a second image includes the steps of: identifying a plurality of objects in the first image and a plurality of objects in the second image; determining matching probability of an object in the second image with an object in the first image, based on relative positional relationships between the plurality of objects in the first image and relative positional relationships between the plurality of objects in the second image; and determining, based on the determined matching probability, a matching result relating to whether the object in the second image matches with the object in the first image. A match indicates that the object in the second image corresponds with or originates from the corresponding object in the first image.

Abstract: The image capturing control apparatus to control an image capturing apparatus that performs still image capturing of a moving object with drive of a movable element movable in a direction other than an optical axis direction of an image capturing optical system. Abstract: A position identifying apparatus includes multiple image capturers, an accumulating unit, a deriving unit, and an identifying unit. The image capturers capture images of predetermined image capturing ranges. The accumulating unit accumulates in time series movement track information of a person included in the images captured by the image capturers. The deriving unit derives, using the movement track information accumulated in the accumulating unit, for each image position in an image captured by any one of the image capturers, a probability that, at a same time as a time at which a person is image-captured at the image position, a person is image-captured at each image position in an image captured by another one of the image capturers. The identifying unit identifies, from the probability derived by the deriving unit, an image position common to the images captured by the image capturers.

Abstract: Segmentation is the process of partitioning an image into regions under certain rules. One implementation is to separate human objects that appear in a sequence of images (video) from the background. The goal is to find humans and segment them out in real-time, fully automatic (with no user input), and the result is produced immediately after a new image is captured. Once the segmentation process is started, the method is constantly learning (or updating) the decision rule for segmenting out human objects from the background by itself. Moving object detection by a Kalman filter-based approach roughly detects the region where moving objects are present.
