    Abstract: A simple dead bolt is mounted inside sleeves which are aligned between a door and its door jam. One end of the dead bolt has a latch key projecting inside the room. The latch key can be mounted either on the door or in the wall. Sliding the latch key closed securely and rapidly locks the door from the inside.

    Abstract: A lock for a horizontally sliding window including a base member attached to a window sill and a catch member slidably mounted on said base member for movement between a locked and unlocked position. The sliding catch member includes a window rail barrier portion for preventing horizontal sliding of a moveable window sash and a catch portion for preventing vertical movement of the slidable window sash to prevent removal of the entire window sash from the outside of a building.

    Abstract: A lock for use in conjunction with a window panel slidably supported in a track of a channel member includes a stop member which is permanently and translatably secured in the track of the channel member. The stop member impinges on selected ones of the weep hole openings in the channel member to limit the sliding translation of the window panel in its track. In one embodiment the stop member includes a longitudinally extending, inverted U-shaped portion, with flanges extending laterally in opposite directions from the distal edges of the U-portion. In another embodiment, the stop member includes horizontal and vertical web portions joined edge to edge, with an oblique web portion extending from the upper edge of the vertical web portion above the horizontal web portion. A pair of tab members may extend from the oblique portion to facilitate manual positioning of the stop member in the track.

    Abstract: 1,152,088. Bolt fastenings. P. H. PLASTICS Inc. 19 Oct., 1966 [22 Oct., 1965], No. 46696/66. Heading E2A. A bolt assembly for fastening a window pane 11 slidable in a fixed frame, comprising a rail 14 including a flange 15 adapted to extend perpendicularly from the rail, the rail being adapted to be secured to the pane; and a slidable bolt member engaging over the flange for longitudinal sliding motion thereon and capable of co-operating with a portion of the fixed frame, spring means 23 engaging the slidable bolt member to urge said member toward the said portion of the fixed frame, the slidable bolt member having an extended portion adapted to engage into a hole in the fixed frame to fasten the window pane. In the construction shown the flange is provided with a bead 19 and the bolt member has a longitudinal slot 26 which communicates with a cylindrical bore 24, the dimensions of which are such that the bolt member can be snapped over the bead 19 so that the bead will lie within the cylindrical bore 24; the depth of the slot is such that a flat surface 27 of the bolt member lies against the portion of the rail 14 parallel to the surface of the glass pane. The spring means 23 is positioned in the bore 24 in a cut-out in the bead 19 so that one end bears against the bead and the other end bears against a stop member 25 positioned in the cylindrical bore so that the bolt member is biassed towards the fastening position. Two forms of window are described both of them have two panes each provided with a bolt member as described; in the form shown in Fig. 1 the panes are slidable in horizontal tracks and the rail 14 extends vertically and in the other form (not shown) the panes are slidable in vertical tracks and the rail 14 is at the bottom of each pane and extends horizontally; in this form the fixed portion of the window is provided with a plurality of holes 18 so that the panes can be fastened in the closed position and in partly or wholly opened positions.
