摘要: A fastening element includes, but is not limited to at least one first body, at least one second body, and at least one locking device. The first body and the second body in each case on one end include, but are not limited to a pressing element for pressing an insulation package against an object. The first body and the second body movably engage each other so that the pressing elements are located at opposite ends of the fastening element. The at least one relative position of the first body to the second body may be fixed by means of the locking device. In this way effective fastening of insulation packages to objects in an aircraft cabin may be ensured without all the insulation packages having to comprise openings for accommodating fastening pins.

摘要: A reconfigurable tool and/or die geometry and methods of use generally comprise forming at least a portion of a shape defining surface with a shape memory material. In response to an activation signal, the shape memory material changes geometry of the shape defining surface to provide a means for forming parts with different geometries from the same tool and/or die. In an alternative embodiment, an insert for a tool and/or die can be used, wherein the insert has at least a portion of its shape defining surface formed of a shape memory material. Also disclosed are processes for forming a first part with a defined geometry and a second part with a defined geometry different from the first part defined geometry using a reconfigurable tool and/or die as well as a reconfigurable insert with a standard tool and/or die.

According to the invention, the charging device (7) brings an ingot (6) that is received in a charging position and held in a charging tray (18) into the centre or the axis (8) of the extrusion press in order to insert it into the ingot receptacle. The charging device (7) of said metal extrusion press comprises an ingot insertion unit (28) which contains two intercoupled motion-dependent sliding cylinders (29a, 29b). Said cylinders (29a, 29b) are fixed by their piston-rod heads (31a, 31b) to a linear guided insertion finger (25) and their cylinder bases are likewise pivotally mounted in bearing rings (30a, 30b).

摘要: An electric pulsed power vacuum press assembly for fast pulse heating of electrically conductive materials at high pressures is disclosed. The fast pulse capability is provided for by a current path (49) that is characterized by extremely low inductance and resistance. The low inductance of the press structure is achieved through the use of parallel plate (52), (56) and coaxial (64), (98) transmission line elements in the circuit. The use of a vacuum environment (46) reduces contamination of the material being processed. The press is useful for achieving fine scale adiabatic heating in dielectric/conductor mixtures (11) such as graphite and diamond, allowing for extreme heating of the conductive phase with minimal heat transfer to the dielectric phase during the heating pulse. Fine scale adiabatic heating enables phase changes and consolidation to be achieved in a composite with minimum energy input and minimum heating of the press structure.

摘要: An apparatus using a shape memory alloy such as nickel-titanium as a die material in one embodiment is used for performing pseudo-isostatic pressing by using a uniaxial mechanical press to densify a powder mixture, preform or presinter with or without the use of pressure transmitting powder. The apparatus can also be used to perform thermal mechanical work on any article to obtain near net shape. With controlled thermal mechanical processing and fabrication of the shape memory alloy into a die configuration, its shape can be changed from a low temperature configuration to a high temperature configuration after being heated. As a result, near net shape parts can be cold or hot pressed pseudo-isostatically without using an expensive and sophisticated press apparatus of the prior art. In a second embodiment, the shape memory alloy is employed as the expansion tooling for near net shape forming of composite materials. This embodiment utilizes a thin wall and a thick wall tube which are made of a shape memory alloy to perform near net shape compression molding of fiber reinforced composites into closed form structure.
