摘要： A damper assembly comprises a cylinder enclosing a plunger mounted on a piston rod and associated with an auxiliary plunger which is yieldably held against the main plunger by a spring. Ascent of the cylinder relative to the plunger allows a high damping force to be obtained by causing the damping liquid to pass around the exterior of the main plunger, along a first flow path, whereas descent of the cylinder allows the spring to yield and to open a larger cross-section third flow path between the auxiliary plunger and the main plunger for a lower damping force to be obtained. The damping force exerted in the first-mentioned direction is limited by the effect of a pressure relief valve which opens to allow flow of hydraulic fluid through the auxiliary plunger along a second flow path once a predetermined damper force has been attained. The cylinder is coaxially surrounded by a pre-load spring. The damper is incorporated in an anti-bounce package support in a yarn winder.

摘要： A drive ram, particularly for a yarn winder, has the piston rod freely movable relative to both the piston and the ram cylinder in a first condition in which a locking washer is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the piston rod. Upon application of fluid pressure to effect relative movement of the piston and the cylinder, the locking washer is spring-urged against a wedge-like tipping washer which skews the lockingwasher and causes it to clamp the piston rod whereby the piston rod is then driven by the ram through a predetermined travel, from a starting position which is governed only by the diameter of the package at the time of operation of the package lift mechanism.This allows a virtually constant lift travel of the ram, regardless of the diameter of the package at the time of operation of the ram.

摘要： An electropneumatic system to control yarn tension in a yarn winding apparatus in which an electrical resistance strain transducer is associated with the yarn line being wound for generating a signal indicative of tension. This signal regulates a motor driven valve which controls pneumatic pressure used to regulate the winding apparatus. A heat responsive negative feedback control is coupled into the system shunting the electrical resistance strain gauge to provide an anticipating signal to minimize overshoot in the control system.

摘要： A pivotal bobbin support arm is under the influence of two spring elements. A first spring element is used to initially bias the support arm towards a friction drive drum during an initial phase of winding of a bobbin package and to thereafter biasing the arm away from the drive drum during a later phase of winding. The second spring element is a load reducing element which is secured to either the support arm or a frame element of the machine. This load reducing element biases the support arm away from the drive drum to counteract the contacting pressure of the bobbin package on the drive drum during winding. The load reducing spring element may be of composite structure or may be in the form of a flat spring. In either case the spring element is constructed so as to be manually mounted and detached without the use of tools.

摘要： The apparatus is particularly adapted for the formation of quite large and heavy strand packages. Its spindle assembly is so constructed as to permit rapid but exceedingly secure mounting thereon of the bobbins upon which such packages are wound, and as to satisfactorily withstand the severe stresses imposed upon its components by the weight of such packages. In a preferred embodiment of the apparatus, wherein the spindle assembly is mounted for pivotal translatory movement toward and away from a pressure roll engageable with the periphery of a strand package upon the spindle assembly, improved fluid-pressure means controls and at desired times produces the movement of the spindle assembly relative to the pressure roll. Such fluid-pressure means utilizes advantageous aspects of both hydraulic and pneumatic systems and, among other benefits, cushions return movement of the spindle assembly back toward the pressure roll following such temporary displacement therefrom as might be occasioned by a bulge or protuberance upon the periphery of the strand package.

摘要： A yarn winding mechanism for removing the treated yarn from yarn treating apparatus such as stuffer crimpers and the like. The treated yarn is wound upon a spool into a yarn winding by means of a rotating driving roll engaging the peripheral surface of the winding. The winding is normally in engagement with the driving roll but is movable out of engagement to halt the winding operation. The yarn winding is mounted upon pivoted lever means, and movement to the disengaged position is accomplished by means of a cable attached at one end to the pivoted lever means and at the other end to a rotatable drum. A drum drive means operated by a fluid pressure motor selectively engagable with the drum to rotate the drum through a predetermined arc, thus pulling the cable and disengaging the winding from the driving roll. The motor operates in response to means sensing the quantity of yarn in the exit portion of the treating chamber. A means for sensing a break in the yarn is also provided, which can disengage the winding from the driving roll and can stop the feeding of yarn into the yarn treating chamber.
