摘要: A knotting device for a baling machine has a pivotal knotting element having a lower jaw and an upper jaw that are pivoted together and have separable tips. The lower jaw has a lower side formed with a pair of parallel and downwardly projecting ridges defining a downwardly open groove extending to the respective tip. Thus when a loop of a tie is tight around the jaws it spans this groove. It also has a pair of lateral sides each formed with a longitudinal ridge of cross section decreasing toward the respective tip. A stripping element is displaceable along the sides of the lower jaw by an appropriate actuator to push a loop from the jaws. Once the loop is formed and the two strands are gripped between the upper and lower jaws it will be stripped accurately from the knotter no matter how small it is, since it will only engage at the ridges. The stripping element has an upper edge complementary with at least the lower side of the knotting element and having a bump engaging in the ridge thereof so the upper edge of the stripping element is formed with a notch complementarily receiving the knotting element.

摘要: Method of and apparatus for preparing and splicing the ends of fibrous formations, particularly in the pressure channel of a pneumatic splicing chamber provided with a displaceable lid. Excess lengths of ends of fibrous formations to be spliced are placed within the pressure channel in overlapping substantially parallel relationship and are then cut to a desired length by cutting means such as scissors. Following such cutting operation, the fibrous formations within the pressure channel are bent without gripping over the edges of the mouth of the pressure channel, whereby to hold the sections of the fibrous formations within the channel in generally parallel relationship. Following this, the thus held sections of the fibrous formations within the pressure air channel are subjected to the whirling effect of a pressure air flow introduced centrally into the pressure channel, such flow dividing to flow outwardly through respective mouths at the ends of the pressure channel, such air flows impinging upon adjustable obstacles provided with blades whereby to subject the air flows to high frequency vibration.

摘要: A knot tying mechanism with improved operational capabilities is disclosed. A twine disc rotatably mounted about a central fixed hub is angularly arranged to position the twine-gripping area for better acceptance of twine from the needle and thereby reduce the incidence of misties due to inadequate gripping. A billhook shaft extends through the fixed hub to properly support the billhook adjacent the twine-gripping area, and to transmit rotational power from the shaft to the twine disc.

摘要: A support means having a vertically adjustable telescoping member with a first cantilevered member thereon for supporting a clasping means for engagement with the holding cord or other origin point of macrame to support same during the knotting process. A clasp on a second cantilevered member disposed beneath the first cantilevered member engages the holding cord to maintain the cord in a taut position as desired. Horizontal members extend from the vertical support to control the ends during the practice of macrame.

摘要: A method and apparatus for counting yarn splicing operations due to normal and abnormal reasons for each of the spindles in an automatic winding machine provided with a plurality of winding spindles each having associated therewith a slub catcher and bobbin replacing means, and an automatic knotting machine circulating past the spindles for carrying out yarn splicing at each of said spindles when necessary. A yarn splicing operation at each spindle is detected by a yarn splicing detecting means including a reed switch associated with each spindle for producing a yarn splicing detecting signal when closed for longer than a predetermined time, and a magnet secured to the automatic knotting machine operates the respective reed switches. Yarn cutting at each spindle is detected by a yarn splicing detecting means including a reed switch associated with each spindle for producing a yarn splicing detecting signal when closed for longer than a predetermined time, and a magnet secured to the automatic knotting machine operates the respective reed switches. Yarn cutting at each spindle is detected by a yarn cutting detecting means which detects the operation of the slub catcher for the spindle and produces a yarn cutting detecting signal. Bobbin replacement is detected by a detecting means which produces a bobbin replacement signal when bobbin discharge occurs simultaneously with the yarn splicing detecting signal. A data processor counts the operations for the respective spindles and compares them for determining the number of splicing operations for the respective spindles due to causes other than spindle replacement and yarn cutting by the slub catchers.

摘要: The stationary, lower jaw of the rotary bill hook has a transversely bulbous toe at its forward end that protrudes laterally outwardly in opposite directions from the longitudinal axis of the jaw. A laterally constricted neck immediately behind the toe retains strands looped around the hook during knot tying, and although the toe is bulbous, the jaw is so contoured that its circumference from the neck to the forwardmost edge of the toe does not exceed the circumference at the neck. As a result, a small, tight knot can be made without accidentally enlarging and loosening the same as it is stripped from the bill hook. The forwardly converging relationship of the upper and lower surfaces of the stationary jaw, together with an oblique relationship of the bulbous toe to the longitudinal axis of the jaw, provide the desired circumferential relationship. A ledge is presented by the protrusion on the trailing side of the jaw to support the pigtail ends of the strands as the knot is stripped from the bill hook, and the leading side of the jaw is longitudinally concave from the leading protrusion rearwardly to the neck so as to urge the strands rearwardly to the neck during the tying operation.

摘要: A releasable thread clamping device having a hollow knotter mandrel rotatable about its longitudinal axis and a knotter needle made of resilient material mounted within the knotter mandrel and supported for axial displacement relative to the knotter mandrel. The knotter needle has a free end which engages under tension the inner wall of the knotter mandrel. A lifting needle is provided and is supported for movement parallel to the longitudinal axis thereof and has adjacent its free end a first inclined surface extending at an acute angle relative to the longitudinal axis thereof. The knotter needle has a second inclined surface which is axially aligned with the first inclined surface on the lifting needle. A control mechanism is provided for effecting an axial shifting of the lifting needle to effect a movement of the first inclined surface into and out of engagement with the second inclined surface so that following an engagement of the first and second inclined surfaces, a continued movement of the lifting needle will effect an urging of the free end of the knotter needle away from the inner wall.

摘要: The improvement, in the combination of a textile yarn processing machine, such as a twister, spinning frame or the like, having a plurality of spindle assemblies positioned in side-by-side relationship for the processing of yarn and a manually operated portable yarn knotter mechanism for knotting together two ends of broken or otherwise separated yarn at selected spindle assembly locations, of holders mounted stationary on the yarn processing machine in front of each spindle assembly for releasably receiving and mounting the yarn knotter mechanism at the desired knotting locations in front of selected spindle assemblies for a knotting operation at the selected spindle assemblies eliminating the necessity of the operator holding the portable yarn knotter mechanism. The holder mechanism may include actuators for actuating control mechanisms in response to mounting of the yarn knotter mechanism for stopping and starting operation of the respective spindle assemblies and for stopping and starting operation of pneumatic threading mechanisms. There may also be provided tensioning and clamping mechanisms below the holders for clamping and tensioning each end of separated yarn during the knotting operation.
