Abstract: A number of different branched hydrocarbon compounds (formula I) having a star-like configuration (S) are prepared from renewable oils containing fatty acids or derivatives containing fatty acids. The branched hydrocarbon compounds may be isolated individually or in mixtures, and may be used as part of base oils, such as renewable base oils (RBOs). A process for preparing the branched hydrocarbon compounds of formula I involve conditions that favour a trimerisation reaction followed by hydrotreating conditions. The compounds of formula I may be made by catalytically treating renewable material in a process, and the compounds have desirable qualities relating to lubrication, cold flow as well as having a low Noack volatility.

Abstract: A process for extraction of crude oil from distillers dried grain solubles and/or distillers dried grains using a solvent extraction process and producing corn distillers meal that may be used as an animal feed supplement is disclosed. The corn distillers meal may be used as a crude protein supplement for use in a livestock feed diet, poultry feed diet, aquatic feed diet or the like. The solvent extracted crude oil may be suitable for other processes, including oleochemical processing for personal care and home care products, biodiesel production, and/or renewable diesel production from hydro-treating the extracted oil to make green diesel fuel.

Abstract: Fuel oil compositions, and methods for blending such fuel oil compositions, to enhance initial compatibility and longer term stability when such fuel oil compositions are blended to meet IMO 2020 low sulfur fuel oil requirements (ISO 8217). In one or more embodiments, asphaltenic resid base stocks are blended with high aromatic slurry oil to facilitate initial compatibility such that low sulfur cutter stocks, e.g., vacuum gas oil and/or cycle oil, may be further blended therein to cut sulfur content while maintaining longer term stability. These fuel oil compositions are economically advantageous when used as marine low sulfur fuel oils because greater concentrations of high viscosity resids are present in the final blend.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a catalytic formulation used in the hydroprocessing of light and middle oil fractions, preferably in hydrodesulfurization and hydrodenitrogenation reactions to obtain diesel with ultra low sulfur content less than or equal to 15 ppm in weight. The catalytic formulation, object of the present invention, consists of at least one metal of Group VI B and at least one metal of Group VIII B and one element of Group V A of the periodic table deposited on a support based on surface modified alumina with an inorganic oxide of a metal of Group II A, IV A and/or IV B. And containing an impregnated organic compound containing at least one hydroxyl group and at least one carboxyl group and that can contain or not at least one sulfide group in its structure. The catalytic formulation, object of the present invention, allows processing of the oil fractions with initial and final boiling temperatures between 150 and 450° C., with initial nitrogen and sulfur content between 1 and 3% by weight and 200 to 600 ppm, respectively, reducing sulfur content to concentrations lower or equal to 15 ppm and nitrogen concentrations to lower than 1 ppm.

Abstract: Provided are marine fuel compositions having acceptable wax behavior. In one form, the marine fuel composition has the following enumerated properties: a kinematic viscosity at 50° C. of about 5 cSt to about 700 cSt; a wax endpoint temperature of less than about 100° C.; and a ratio of kinematic viscosity at 100° C. to operating viscosity greater than 1, wherein the operating viscosity is at least about 2 cSt. The marine fuel composition exists in a liquid phase with essentially all the wax in the composition melted (essentially free of solid wax) prior to fuel injection into a marine engine.

A low-carbon method and a system of using whole life cycle involving whole process from raw material acquisition, fuel preparation to fuel application are related. A prepared jet biofuel can be used in six types of aircrafts and engines thereof. Aircrafts using the jet biofuel can have a portion of greenhouse gas emission reduction of 50% to 80%.

Abstract: A method is provided for reprocessing a petroleum-based waste oil feedstock into diesel fuel. The method includes forming a treated feedstock by (a) filtering the feedstock, thereby removing solids and metals from the feedstock, and (b) dehydrating the feedstock; vaporizing the treated feedstock to produce an oil vapor; passing the oil vapor through at least one catalyst bed and subsequently through a cooler, thereby converting the oil vapor to a hydrocarbon liquid product with a diesel product boiling point range; and removing contaminants from the hydrocarbon liquid product, wherein the contaminants are selected from the group consisting of particulates and color precursors.
