Abstract: A new catalyst hydroisomerizes C18 paraffins from fatty acids to a high degree to produce a composition with acceptable freeze point which retains 18 carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon molecule for jet fuel. We have discovered a fuel composition comprising at least 14 wt % hydrocarbon molecules having at least 18 carbon atoms and a freeze point not higher than −40° C. The composition also may exhibit a exhibiting a final boiling point of no more than 300° C. The hydroisomerization process can be once through or a portion of the product diesel stream may be selectively hydrocracked or recycled to hydroisomerization to obtain a fuel composition that meets jet fuel specifications.

Abstract: Disclosed is a process for converting lower linear and branched mono-olefins, derived from C2-C5 bio-based alcohols to higher hydrocarbons, to one or more C8-C24 hydrocarbons. Certain embodiments provide a process for oligomerization of branched and/or linear C3-C8 olefins to renewable diesel fuel and/or jet fuel in overall yields of at least 70% in the presence of tungstated γ-alumina or tungstated silica catalysts admixed with ZSM-5 type zeolites.

Abstract: Methods and systems for, among other embodiments, transporting renewable diesel (RD) through a pipeline, or a portion thereof, are provided. In certain embodiments, the method may include transporting the renewable diesel from a first pipeline terminal to a second pipeline terminal, the renewable diesel wrapped head and tail with a compatible diesel fuel. The method may also include restricting the transport of the diesel fuel in the pipeline to diesel fuel compositions having a first composition or first specification, the first composition or first specification characterized by a selected amount of the renewable diesel, or a component thereof, the selected amount being less than the selected amount allowed in a second target specification for the diesel fuel. The method may also include combining, at the second pipeline terminal, at least a portion of the mixed interface fraction stream with at least a portion of the diesel fuel fraction stream so as to produce a diesel fuel stream meeting the second target specification.

Also disclosed herein are kits and methods for using the disclosed system to produce biofuel.

Abstract: Processes herein may be used to thermally crack various hydrocarbon feeds, and may eliminate the refinery altogether while making the crude to chemicals process very flexible in terms of crude. In embodiments herein, crude is progressively separated into at least light and heavy fractions. Depending on the quality of the light and heavy fractions, these are routed to one of three upgrading operations, including a fixed bed hydroconversion unit, a fluidized catalytic conversion unit, or a residue hydrocracking unit that may utilize an ebullated bed reactor. Products from the upgrading operations may be used as feed to a steam cracker.
