    摘要: A cathode ray tube comprising an extra electrode with which the electron beam can be concentrated on a diaphragm aperture and simultaneously a small predeflection of the electron beam is obtained. The extra electrode is, for example, tubular and has oblique cut ends and is situated between two other electrodes. If the extra electrode has the same potential as the two other electrodes it is inoperative. If a suitable negative voltage pulse is supplied to the extra electrode the electron beam is slightly deflected and also concentrated on the diaphragm aperture.

    摘要: A cathode-ray tube having an electron gun to generate an electron beam and a focusing lens to focus the electron beam on a target. The anode of the electron gun forms part of the focusing lens and has a very small aperture to limit the electron beam. In order to prevent positive ions formed in the tube from poisoning the cathode the potential of the anode is at most 75 volts relative to the cathode potential and the distance from the center of the focusing lens to the aperture in the anode is at least equal to 1.5 times the largest dimension of the anode taken in a cross-section at right angles to the axis.

    摘要: A high speed electromagnetic deflected electrostatic focus cathode ray tube display having a relatively short magnetic time constant by controlling the gun structure. The volume resistivity and the thickness of resistive materials used in the neck of the cathode ray tube that are cut by changing magnetic flux fields, are selected to provide a relatively short time constant. In one arrangement, the tube focusing control elements near the deflection yoke are formed on a precision ground structure of glass or other suitable ceramic materials. In another arrangement the elements of the tube that are intercepted by the changing magnetic flux are deposited or formed on a precision ground portion of the tube neck. Material deposited on the tube structure or on the tube neck is of a selected maximum volume resistivity and a selected small thickness so that the overall operation has a relatively short time constant.

The aperture in the second grid is widened in the direction of the screen and its dimension and its distance from the first grid are adjusted for intercepting at least 5 percent of the beam current so as to reduce the aberrations.

    摘要: An electron gun assembly for use in a cathode ray tube provided with a main lens system for focusing electrons emitted from a cathode electrode, comprising at least three focusing electrodes aligned on the same imaginary axis extending from said cathode electrode to form with an anode electrode at least two separated lenses on said axis when voltages are applied. The two lenses form a unitary lens having a large aperture in which the object point (i.e., cross-over point) for the lens formed of a first and a second grid electrode is located at the focal position of the lens on the cathode side and the trace of the emitted electron beam becomes nearly parallel with said axis between said two lenses. Thus, the radius of the resulting beam spot becomes smaller and the focusing characteristics are improved.
