摘要： A cassette casing for holding an ink film ribbon has a discharge outlet for the ink film ribbon. A winding core is rotatably mounted in the cassette casing. An ink film ribbon is wound on the winding core and has one end thereof discharged through the discharge outlet. At least one slide contact member is disposed at the discharge outlet and contacts the ink film ribbon along the full width of the ink film ribbon.

摘要： A thermal ink ribbon cassette for holding an inked ribbon of indefinite length for is in a thermal transfer printing mechanism is disclosed in which the cassette holds a spool of fresh ink ribbon which passes out of the cassette and across a thermal printing head, and then back into the cassette into a used ribbon chamber. A ribbon drive mechanism is mounted in the cassette adjacent the location on the cassette where the used ribbon normally enters the cassette so that if the ribbon breaks, the free broken end can be manually fed into the drive mechanism so that the remaining portion of the unused ribbon can be used. The cassette may also be provided with a removable front wall so that replacement ribbons can be inserted by a user, and a disposable container can be put into the ribbon take up chamber of the cassette so that a user does not have to handle the rumpled ink ribbon when changing to a new ribbon.

The recording apparatus uses a replaceable ink ribbon cartridge which has an ink ribbon wound on a take-up spindle and a feed spindle. A take-up spindle support section rotatably supports the take-up spindle when the ink ribbon cartridge is mounted in a specific position. The recording apparatus is further provided with a displaceable retaining member displaceable between a first position, for holding the take-up spindle between the take-up spindle support section and the retaining member to restrict the displacement of the take-up spindle, and a second position, for permitting movement of the take-up spindle into the take-up spindle support section.

摘要： An ink ribbon cassette apparatus which eliminates slack in an ink ribbon when the ink ribbon cassette is loaded on a printer. The ink ribbon is supplied from a supply reel and taken up on a take-up reel both supported on the cassette. A detector detects when the cassette is loaded on the cassette apparatus and in turn drives the take-up reel to draw a short length of the ink ribbon onto the take-up reel. The rotatable supply member is restrained by spring tension from rotating and from supplying the ribbon, providing a back tension on the ink ribbon and preventing slack.

摘要： An ink ribbon cartridge includes a detachable ink ribbon spool which may be rotatably mounted in a lower shell of the cartridge via first and second shank portions axially projected from opposite sides of the spool. The first shank is of a rod shaped configuration, and includes at least large and small circumference sections which are longitudinally spaced apart. According to such configuration, the spool may be installed only in a compatible ink ribbon cartridge having a lower shell including a first bearing member formed with a first bearing groove rotatably supporting the large circumference section of the first shank and having a width proportional thereto. A second bearing member is disposed adjacent to, and spaced apart from, the first bearing member. The second bearing member includes a second bearing groove having a width proportional to the small circumference section of the first shank. A third bearing member is formed at a location in said lower shell opposing the first bearing member such that the second shank of the spool is rotatably supported thereby. According to this, various configurations of spools and compatible lower shells may be realized which may be utilized for distinguishing between various types of ink ribbon, etc. Since a spool may only be mounted in a lower shell of compatible configuration, misassembly during manufacturing is prevented. In addition, user error, such as accidental installation of an inappropriate ink ribbon, may be surely prevented.

摘要： The present invention provides a tape printing device for printing a desirable series of characters on a tape and cutting the tape to a label of a desirable length, and also a tape cartridge used in the tape printing device. The tape cartridge has a characteristic element readably storing specific information on the tape such as a width of the tape. The tape printing device reads the characteristic element to control printing conditions according to the type of the tape cartridge. More specifically, the tape printing device determines a variety of parameters including a number of lines and character sizes of the character series printed on the tape as well as lengths of left and right margins. When a tape of a relatively large width is set in the tape cartridge, the device increases a rotation torque of a platen for feeding the tape. When a tape of a relatively small width is set in the tape cartridge, on the contrary, the device drives only specific dot elements in a range of the tape width out of all dot elements arranged on a printing head. The characteristic element of the tape cartridge stores the specific information expressed as depths of a plurality of holes or electric data. This specific information may be updated to identify a user or detect a residual amount of the tape.

摘要： A reusable ribbon cassette can be provided for a printer for printing on labels by using an ink transferred from the ribbon to the label material, wherein the ribbon cassette provides the ribbon for the printing. Such a re-usable cassette for a ribbon which is used up rapidly, in particular an ink ribbon in a thermal transfer printing process, has two parallel housing halves, one of which has vertically projecting pins onto which the other housing half can be pushed, and then maintained in position by friction. When the cassette is open, the tape, which is conventionally wound on a tape core, can be pushed onto the cores or core pairs of the cassette, and thereby become simultaneously non-rotationally connected to the cores. The connecting pins for the two housing halves advantageously simultaneously form deflector elements for the tape. The deflector pins are also detachable, so that the pins can be replaced by shorter or longer ones, thereby making it possible to use a narrower or wider tape for the cassette. The cores, or at least one core per core pair, can be coupled to the corresponding shaft by means of internal and external teeth, whereby one of the shafts is a drive shaft.
