    摘要: A conveyor apparatus in which magnetic liquid is provided between a transfer track and a transfer object and a permanent magnet is fitted on the bottom of the transfer object to attract the magnetic liquid to move together with the transfer object thereby serving as a lubricant and permits the transfer object to move on the track afloat or buoyed-up by the magnetic liquid. An edge of a magnetic pole is shaped to have a loft angle in contact with the magnetic liquid to produce an upward component during its movement thereby increasing buoyancy and stability of the transfer object. Dust stir-up is precluded by virtue of the use of a magnetic liquid, as opposed to a conventional pressurized air support method.

    摘要: Disclosure is made of a traction means with electrodynamic suspension of aehicle, intended for high-speed land transport and comprising a synchronous linear motor whose exciting winding is mounted on the vehicle and at the same time serves as the exciting winding for electrodynamic suspension of the vehicle, whereas the three-phase armature winding of said synchronous linear motor extends horizontally along the track and is a single-layer winding with one turn for the pole and phase. In the active area, the conductors of the armature winding are made as strips parallel to the track plane and having a width up to one third of the pole pitch. The exciting winding induces eddy currents in said strips on the side of the vehicle, which eddy currents ensure electrodynamic suspension of the vehicle. Traction means of this type can be used in the future in high-speed urban and suburban transport.

    摘要: A system that includes an elongate cylindrical vehicle operable to travel along a similarly-shaped, trough-like guide-way. At stations along the guideway, the vehicle is supported by wheels, but between stations it levitates at about 25 centimeters above the inside guideway surface. Levitation of the moving vehicle is effected by interaction between magnetic dipole fields provided by superconducting coils or permanent magnets disposed over substantially the whole lower surface area of the vehicle and a pair of spaced conducting strips located on the guideway inner surface and oriented parallel to the longitudinal axis of the guideway throughout its length. The vehicle is free to rotate or pivot about its longitudinal axis and this, coupled with the very resilient support over its entire length, permits it to travel at 200 kilometers per hour and beyond with minimum discomfort to passengers being transported. The magnet dipole fields must be of the order of 1,000 to 3,000 gauss at a distance of 25 centimeters from the vehicle to give the support necessary to maintain the 25 centimeter clearance. The necessary propelling force is supplied by a polyphase winding which is disposed in the lower portion of the guideway between the conducting strips; the winding produces a traveling-wave magnetic field that interacts with the magnetic dipole fields. Between stations synchronous operation is accomplished by employing a.c. power input with a cycloconverter, i.e., an a-c to a-c converter, to reduce the input frequency to an appropriate ratio. Acceleration and deceleration of the vehicle is accomplished by varying the frequency of the cycloconverter to provide synchronous interaction between the magnetic field of the winding and the magnetic dipole fields of the superconducting coils as the vehicle accelerates. Provision is made for switching vehicles, and a novel method of guideway fabrication is disclosed.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for supporting and translating a mass by magnetic attractive means. A ferromagnetic track may have repetitive magnetic discontinuities. A linear plural-phase ferromagnetic electric motor, which may be synchronous, supports the mass at a small gap below the track at zero frequency current variation through the motor. The same motor translates the mass along the track at a speed determined by the frequency of the plural-phase alternating current supplied to the motor. A nonlinear feedback circuit having plural sensor elements controls the magnitude of the alternating current supplied to the motor. This maintains the gap substantially constant despite varying loads and gradually corrects for unevenness of the track. The feedback circuit provides uniform stability and uniform dynamic response regardless of the length of the gap.

    摘要: The invention provides in some aspects a transport system comprising a guideway having a plurality of regions in which one or more vehicles are propelled, where each such vehicle includes a magnet. Disposed along each region are a plurality of propulsion coils, each comprising one or more turns that are disposed about a common axis, such that the respective common axes of the plurality of coils in that region are (i) substantially aligned with one another, and (ii) orthogonal to a direction in which the vehicles are to be propelled in that region. The plurality of coils of at least one such region are disposed on opposing sides of the magnets of vehicles being propelled along that region so as to exert a propulsive force of substance on those magnets. In at least one other region, the plurality of coils disposed on only a single side of the magnets of vehicles being propelled in that region exert a propulsive force of substance thereon-regardless of whether the plurality of coils in that region are disposed on a single or multiple (e.g., opposing sides) of those magnets.
