摘要:
A carburetor having the usual throttle valve is also equipped with a butterfly valve surrounding the main fuel boost venturi (venturi valve). The venturi valve is linked to the throttle valve in such a manner as to begin opening movement shortly after the throttle valve begins to open. Air velocity over the main fuel nozzle approaches a maximum as the venturi valve begins to open and remains substantially constant thereafter to promote most efficient mixing of fuel and air.

The device has a main jet for normal operation and an idling circuit, both opening into the intake pipe and provided with calibrated orifices to adjust the richness of the air/fuel mixture. An adjustable throttle enables the idling mixture to be adjusted. The adjustable throttle can be bypassed through a passage to the mixing channel during deceleration. The passage has a closing member actuated by a capsule governed by the suction in the intake and by a member sensitive to the engine''s speed. When the bypass is closed the capsule is connected to atmospheric pressure. The capsule is fixed to an element compensating for altitude.

A carburettor operating under a constant reduced pressure comprising a mixing chamber formed in the intake manifold between the main and an auxiliary throttle valve, and fed with air and fuel by an emulsifying chamber, the input of air in which as required for idling and reduced load conditions, is controlled by a valve controlled in its turn by a vacuum chamber which is selectively connected with the atmosphere and with the intake manifold so as to make said valve close the corresponding input whenever the rotary speed of the engine is above a predetermined value and the main throttle valve is simultaneously closed or substantially so or else whenever the temperature of the engine cooling medium sinks underneath a predetermined value.

System for reducing the amount of hydrocarbons contained in the exhaust gases emitted from an automotive gasoline-powered engine having a carburetor of variable venturi type during the deceleration of the automobile. The hydrocarbon content of the engine exhaust gases is reduced during the deceleration by lowering the vacuum at the intake manifold of the engine through introduction of a proper amount of air-fuel mixture into the intake manifold by way of an additional bypass passage and under the control of a specially constructed valve.
摘要:
A device for reducing the emission of unburned hydrocarbons from an internal combustion engine during periods of engine speed deceleration when combustion chamber and intake manifold pressures drop to such low values as to inhibit complete combustion. The low pressure or vacuum that occurs is relieved by directing an air-fuel mixture into the intake manifold whenever manifold pressure falls to a predetermined value. This mixture is formed in a secondary charge forming device that operates independently from the conventional engine carburetor.
