Abstract: In at least one implementation, a method of operating a combustion engine, includes determining a temperature equal or related to a temperature of an engine at an engine start and comparing the determined temperature to a temperature threshold, determining if an engine operating condition exceeds an engine threshold within a threshold time after the engine was started, and if the determined temperature is below the threshold temperature and the engine operating condition remains above the engine threshold and the threshold time has not passed, providing an enriched fuel and air mixture to the engine.

Abstract: An integrated ignition and electronic auto-choke module for an internal combustion engine and an internal combustion engine including the same. In one aspect, the module includes a housing that is configured to be mounted to an engine block of an internal combustion engine. The housing may contain at least a portion of a first temperature sensor that measures a first temperature indicative of an engine temperature. The housing may also contain a controller and at least a portion of an ignition circuit. The controller may be coupled to the first temperature sensor and configured to determine a starting position of a choke valve based on the first temperature and operate an actuator to move the choke valve into the starting position accordingly.

Abstract: An automatic choke apparatus for a carburetor includes an electric actuator, a choke valve opening/closing mechanism configured to open and close a choke valve by being driven by a power exerted by the electric actuator, and a controller configured to control operation of the electric actuator. The controller, to which a battery supplies electric power, operates the electric actuator and the choke valve opening/closing mechanism in order that, when the engine is stopped, the choke valve is set in a semi-opened position and, when the engine starts to be cranked, the choke valve is set in a fully-closed position. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent the choke valve from freezing up in the fully-closed state in a case where the engine is stopped under an extremely low temperature environment.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine including a carburetor. The internal combustion engine includes a choke valve disposed within the carburetor, and a choke lever interconnected with the choke valve for movement with the choke valve. The engine also includes a throttle valve disposed within the carburetor and a throttle lever interconnected with the throttle valve for movement therewith. Abstract: An automatic choke system includes: a wax-type temperature sensing section; and an output section which opens a choke valve of a carburetor in response to heat receiving operation of the temperature sensing section. Temperature sensing section includes: a bottomed cylindrical housing attached to an engine with its bottom portion directed to a high-temperature portion of the engine; a bottomed movable cylinder; a stationary piston slidably supported by the movable cylinder and having one end protruding out of the movable cylinder; and a wax contained in the movable cylinder in a sealed manner, and causing the movable cylinder and the stationary piston to move relative to each other in an axial direction. The movable cylinder is slidably housed in the housing in a state in which an outer end of the stationary piston abuts against an inner surface of the bottom portion of the housing. The output section is connected to the movable cylinder. Thus, the rate of opening of the choke valve can be increased immediately after the start of engine warming-up operation, and reduced as approaching the completion of engine warming-up operation.

Abstract: An auto-choke control device maintains good startability at the time of restarting at high temperature without need of a thermostat specific for an auto-choke. An engine temperature detection device is drivably controlled by a control circuit in response to the engine temperature. A switching detection circuit detects ON or OFF operation of a main switch connected to the control circuit. A self-hold circuit automatically holds power to the control circuit when the main switch is changed from an ON state to an OFF state.
