The method inserts the stator assembly with connector structure connected thereto into an interior of the plastic housing until a surface of the stator assembly engages a surface of the plastic housing, with an annular end of the plastic housing extending beyond an adjacent annular surface of the connector structure. The annular end of the housing is heated and deformed to capture the annular surface of the connector structure, thereby coupling the plastic housing to the connector structure.

A carburetor for an internal combustion engine having a body that fastens at a first end to an air filter and at a second end to the intake port of a cylinder head. The body has an intake bore formed in the first end that receives air from the air filter, a throttle bore formed in the second end that provides a fuel/air mixture to the intake port, and a venturi formed between the intake bore and the throttle bore that receives air from the intake bore, provides fuel to form a fuel/air mixture, and provides the fuel/air mixture to the throttle bore. A bore is formed in the body from the venturi and receives a nozzle that communicates fuel to the venturi. A fuel enrichment system, which is responsive to the vibration of the engine, has a passage that communicates air from the intake bore, through the passage, to the nozzle. A valve seat is disposed within the passage and also has a passage to allow the flow of air therethrough. A ball is disposed within the passage of the fuel enrichment system that seats against the valve seat when the engine is below engine cranking speeds to prevent the passage of air through the valve seat. When the engine is above engine cranking speeds, the ball will resonate within the passage of the fuel enrichment system and unseat from the valve seat, thereby allowing the flow of air around the ball and through the valve seat.

A variable venturi carburetor for a combustion engine has an uprighted cup-shaped piston head which forms an integral part of a venturi within a fuel-and-air mixing passage carried by a carburetor body, and a needle that projects rigidly downward from the head into a fuel feed passage. The position of the piston head controls air flow by adjusting the air flow cross-section of the variable venturi, and the needle simultaneously controls fuel flow into the fuel-and-air mixing passage at the venturi via obstruction of the fuel feed passage. The piston head and needle move in unison by a flexible diaphragm engaged to and disposed above the head. An atmospheric chamber is defined below the diaphragm and a vacuum chamber is defined generally above the diaphragm. A vacuum passage extends through the bottom of the head communicating between the fuel-and-air mixing passage at the venturi and the vacuum chamber. As vacuum at the venturi increases, the volume of the vacuum chamber decreases and the flexing diaphragm moves the head partially out of the fuel-and-air mixing passage until a balance of forces between the vacuum draw and the resilient compression of a spring disposed within the vacuum chamber and which biases the head into the passage is reached. During cold engine starts, cold idling, and cold acceleration, a cold engine priming device sensing the temperate of the engine and delivers additional fuel into the fuel-and-air mixing passage from a fuel chamber when the engine is below a pre-set value.

An engine includes a double barreled carburetor. A sensor mounted to the exhaust system detects the concentration of a component in the exhaust. A control unit, based on a signal from the sensor, dispatches a control signal to an air bleed control valve to vary its resistance. Primary and secondary path systems lead from the outlet of the air bleed control valve and respectively supply primary bleed air into the fuel which is being supplied into the primary barrel of the carburetor and secondary bleed air into the fuel which is being supplied into the secondary barrel of the carburetor. A one way valve is fitted in the secondary path system so as to allow air flow only towards the secondary barrel, and not away therefrom. Thus, when both barrels are opened, bleed air is sucked in to the primary barrel through the primary path system, and also bleed air is sucked in to the secondary barrel through the secondary path system past the one way valve; but, when only the primary barrel is opened, bleed air is sucked in to the primary barrel through the primary path system, but no bleed air is sucked in to the secondary barrel through the secondary path system, and the one way valve prevents reverse flow of air from the secondary barrel through the secondary path system and thencefrom into the primary path system towards the primary barrel.

A carburetor has an apparatus for compensation of idling revolution of an internal combustion engine. The apparatus comprises a bypass passage one end of which is opened to the air suction conduit of the carburetor upstream of a throttle valve, the other end opened to the same downstream of the throttle valve. A fuel passage supplies fuel into the bypass passage to form a fuel-air mixture, a solenoid valve provided on the bypass passage for controlling a quantity of the fuel-air mixture in response to operation of a load such as, for example, heater, a radiator fan, lights, an air conditioner, etc. so that the idling rotational speed to be decreased by such operations is compensated by supplying fuel-air mixture into the air suction conduit.
