Abstract:
The present invention has many aspects. One aspect of the invention is to perform equalization using a sliding window approach. A second aspect reuses information derived for each window for use by a subsequent window. A third aspect utilizes a discrete Fourier transform based approach for the equalization. A fourth aspect relates to handling oversampling of the received signals and channel responses. A fifth aspect relates to handling multiple reception antennas. A sixth embodiment relates to handling both oversampling and multiple reception antennas.
Abstract:
A neural network based universal time series prediction system for financial securities includes a pipelined recurrent ANN architecutre having a plurality of identical modules to first adjust internal weights and biases in response to a first training set representing a nonlinear financial time series of samples of a financial quantity and a target value, and then determine and store an estimated prediction error of the ANN in order to adjust short time stock price predictions in accordance with the stored prediction error. The prediction system is also designed to output upper and lower prediction bounds within a confidence region.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for generating a frame quality indication of a frame of a received turbo encoded wireless signal is provided. A turbo decoder is used to decode a demodulated frame and provide a decoded frame. A turbo encoder is used to encode the decoded frame to provide a re-encoded frame. A modulator modulates the re-encoded frame. The frame quality is assessed based on a degree of correlation between the demodulated frame and the re-encoded modulated frame. The advantages include a less complex receiver due to reduced computational load, and potentially greater payload capacity in frames due to elimination of Yamamoto bits.
Abstract:
A Wireless bridge conjoins two previously incompatible technologies within a single device to leverage the strengths of each. The Wireless bridge marries the Personal Area Network (PAN) technology of Bluetooth as described in Bluetooth Specification Version 1.0B with the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) technology described in the IEEE802.11aspecification to provide a wireless system level solution for peripheral devices to provide Internet service interactions. The invention brings together in a single working device implementations of these technologies so they do not interfere or disrupt the operation of each other and instead provide a seamless transition of a Bluetooth connection to Wireless Local Area Network/Internet connection. From the Wireless Local Area Network perspective the inventive wireless bridge extension allows a Bluetooth-enabled device to roam from one Wireless Access Point (bridge) to the next without losing its back end connection. The invention takes into account the minimum separation and shielding required of these potentially conflicting technologies to inter-operate.
Abstract:
An interleaver receives incoming data frames of size N. The interleaver indexes the elements of the frame with an N1×N2 index array. The interleaver then effectively rearranges (permutes) the data by permuting the rows of the index array. The interleaver employs the equation I(j,k)=I(j,&agr;jk+&bgr;j)modP) to permute the columns (indexed by k) of each row (indexed by j). P is at least equal to N2, &bgr;j is a constant which may be different for each row, and each &agr;j is a relative prime number relative to P. After permuting, the interleaver outputs the data in a different order than received (e.g., receives sequentially row by row, outputs sequentially each column by column).
Abstract:
Construction of a Turbo code interleaver for blocks of any size is facilitated by partitioning the block into co-sets of predetermined size, permuting each co-set with an interleaver whose parameters are selected and optimized for the predetermined size, and recombining the elements of the permuted co-sets according to a predetermined order. Partitioning of the block into co-sets is accomplished by choosing a value n for the number of co-set, and assigning to each co-set those positions of the block having a common value for modulo-n of the block size. The permuted output may be punctured to maintain a desired ratio.
Abstract:
A large diameter gauge consists of a series of measuring units. Each measuring unit comprises two positioning elements(11,12), a fastener(14) and a body(13). These series of measuring units are placed and fixed sequentially and head to end or end to head around the circumference of the cylinder or hole to be measured during measuring until the remained space is not large enough to be put into another one measuring unit. Measuring the distance between the first measuring unit and the last measuring unit, the diameter to be measured can be obtained through the geometric relations between the gauges and the cylinder or hole to be measured.

Abstract:
A single event upset hardened multiport memory cell to be utilized in a register file is disclosed. The single event upset hardened multiport memory cell includes a storage cell, a write bitline, a read bitline. The storage cell, which is utilized for storing data, includes first and second sets of cross-coupled transistors and first and second sets of isolation transistors. The first and second sets of isolation transistors are respectively coupled to the first and second set of cross-coupled transistors such that two inversion paths are formed between the two sets of cross-coupled transistors and the two sets of isolation transistors. Coupled to the storage cell, the write bitline inputs write data to the storage cell. Also coupled to the storage cell, the read bitline outputs read data from the storage cell.
