    摘要: Method enabling a command to switch the measure mode to be entered in a single vertical axis dimension-measuring column. The mode witch command is entered by pressing the probe tip against the piece to be measured during a time interval greater than a predetermined value. The measuring and displaying system then engages in a search mode of the turn-back point of said piece to be measured. Application: measurement of inner or outer diameters by means of a single-axis measuring column. The method allows the hole's minimal and maximal points to be determined with a minimum of handling operations.

A rotatable support platform is coupled to the housing intermediate the measurement flanges, the axis of rotation thereof being co-extensive with a measurement flange. The gemstone whose dimensions are to be measured is disposed upon the rotatable support platform intermediate the measurement flanges. The rotatable platform is positioned to align the gemstone axis being measured with the axis of alignment of the measurement flanges.

    摘要: A variable reluctance load cell for measuring the static or slowly fluctuating load, or tension, on devices is contained in a support tube. A sensor in the tube utilizes opposing C and I shaped magnetic cores attached to opposing ends of the support tube. A magnetic circuit is formed having an inductance defined by the size of the gap between the magnetic cores with the reluctance dominated by the gap. The sensor inductance is coupled with a fixed, predetermined capacitance in a resonant LC circuit, and the resonant frequency is a function of the gap. The sensor is in a cavity within the tube, and the cavity is sealed in a manner that prevents water or other damaging agents from entering the sensor. In this manner, mounting the sensor and tube to a static device and measuring the AC voltage at the sensor, the amount of load, or stress can be determined.

    摘要: A multi-depth deflectometer provides use and fabrication advantages. It is comprised of a head member that normally is disposed at the very mouth of a bore hole, an elongated tail member extending down through the bore hole. Displacement transducers are removably positioned within the head member which can be opened from the surface. The transducers can be easily placed in or removed by hand. The first trackings of subsurface deflections are done through mechanical deflection anchors located at desired measuring levels within the tail member. The deflection anchors have transverse-bite actuators and are each separately in vertical-actuation communication with one of the transducers. A method of implementing the MDD reflects the use and fabrication advantages also.

    摘要: A brake drum gage is described for measuring the inside diameter of a brake drum of a vehicle with the wheel mounted on the vehicle in the presence of an axle tube and other undercarriage components or parts. The brake drum gage includes an elongate generally flat bar having proximate and remote ends and defines an elongate axis in a reference plane. A fixed element is fixedly mounted at the proximate end of the bar and a movable element is movably mounted on the bar for movements along the bar between the proximate and remote ends for adjusting the spacing between these elements. Each element includes a generally V-shaped arm that includes an upright portion generally parallel to the reference plane and an angled portion inclined in relation to an associated upright portion. A fixed anvil is provided on the angled portion of the fixed element and has a tip extending beyond the fixed element in a direction of the remote end of the bar and the movable anvil is provided on the angled portion of the movable element and has a tip extending beyond the movable element in a direction of the proximate end of the bar. An indicator in the form of an electronic digital module is provided for providing an indication of the distance between the tips of the anvils along the direction substantially parallel to the axis. The anvils on the angled portions are positionable at diametrically opposite positions of the inside cylindrical surface of the brake drum while the bar is spaced inwardly from the drum and clear of the axle tube and other undercarriage components or parts of the vehicle. Adjustable depth stops are provided on the angled portions of both elements to ensure accurate positioning of the anvils at diametrically opposite points of the cylindrical surface to be measured. In this manner the brake drum gage can be used to accurately measure brake drums without removing the wheels from a vehicle.
