Abstract: A negative image-recording material for heat-mode exposure, which is able to form images by heat-mode exposure, comprises (A) a polyurethane resin having at least one or more side-chain branches of the following general formulae (1) to (3) which polyurethane resin is soluble in an alkaline aqueous solution, (B) a photo-thermal converting agent, and (C) a compound capable of generating a radical through heat-mode exposure to light of a wavelength which can be absorbed by the photo-thermal converting agent. In formulae (1) to (3), R1 to R11 each independently represents a monovalent organic group; X and Y each independently represents an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, or nullN(R12)null; Z represents an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, nullN(R13)null, or an optionally-substituted phenylene group; R12 represents a hydrogen atom or a monovalent organic group; and R13 represents a hydrogen atom or a monovalent organic group. 1

Abstract: This patent describes an on-press ink and/or fountain solution developable lithographic printing plates having on a substrate a thermosensitive layer capable of hardening upon exposure to an infrared radiation. The plate can be imagewise exposed with an infrared radiation and then on-press developed with ink and/or fountain solution by rotating the plate cylinder and engaging ink and/or fountain solution roller. The developed plate can then directly print images to the receiving sheets. The imagewise exposure can be performed off the press or with the plate being mounted on the plate cylinder of a lithographic press.

Abstract: Lithographic imaging using non-ablative printing members combines the benefits of simple construction, the ability to utilize traditional metal base supports, and amenability to imaging with low-power lasers that need not impart ablation-inducing energy levels. A representative printing member has a hydrophilic metal substrate and, thereover, first and second layers. The first layer has a thickness and an exposure surface and comprises a material that absorbs imaging radiation. The second layer overlies the first layer and is oleophilic and substantially transparent to imaging radiation. Exposure to imaging radiation causes the first layer and the substrate to irreversibly detach without substantial ablation, thereby facilitating removal, by subjection to the cleaning liquid, of the first and second layers where detachment has taken place.
