Abstract: A vehicular gesture sensing system includes a radar assembly and method of operation thereof. The radar assembly includes at least one radar transmit antenna for transmitting radar waves in a cabin of a vehicle and at exterior areas outside the cabin and at least one radar receive antenna for receiving the radar waves after reflection of the vehicle or objects or an occupant in the vehicle. A control, via processing of data representative of the radar waves received by the radar receive antenna, detects a gesture made by the occupant in the cabin of the vehicle. The control correlates the detected gesture with a user input operation and, responsive to correlating the detected gesture with the user input operation, communicates a control command corresponding to the detected gesture to control at least one accessory of the vehicle in accordance with the user input operation.

Abstract: A vehicular exterior door handle assembly includes a base portion configured to mount at an exterior door handle region of a vehicular door, a handle portion pivotally mounted at the base portion, and a light projection device. The handle portion is pivotable between a non-deployed orientation, where an outer surface of the handle portion is coplanar with an outer surface of the vehicular door at the exterior door handle region, and a deployed orientation, where the handle portion is pivoted inward into a door handle pocket within the vehicular door. The light projection device is operable to project an icon or character onto the outer surface of the handle portion when the handle portion is in the deployed orientation. The light projection device projects the icon or character responsive to the handle portion pivoting to the deployed orientation.

Abstract: A vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly includes a base portion configured for attachment at an exterior portion of a vehicle, a mirror head having a mirror casing and a mirror reflective element, and an actuator at an end of the base portion. An adapter plate of the actuator is attached at a head mounting plate attached at the mirror casing. The mirror back plate is attached at the head mounting plate. A service recess is at and between the mirror back plate and the head mounting plate and is configured to receive a separating element that imparts a separating force at and between the mirror back plate and the head mounting plate to detach at least a portion of the mirror back plate from the head mounting plate. With at least the portion of the mirror back plate detached, the mirror back plate is detachable from the head mounting plate.

Abstract: An exterior rearview mirror assembly for mounting at a vehicle includes a mounting arm configured for attachment at an exterior portion of the vehicle, and a mirror head having a mirror casing, a mirror reflective element and a mirror actuator. The mounting arm is received through an aperture in the mirror casing and the mirror actuator is attached at the mounting arm inside the mirror casing. The mirror actuator is electrically operable to adjust the mirror reflective element and the mirror casing relative to the mounting arm. The aperture allows for movement of the mirror casing relative to the mounting arm during operation of the mirror actuator. A powerfold actuator may be operable to pivot the mirror head relative to the base portion between a folded or non-use position and an extended or use position.

Abstract: A vehicular interior rearview mirror system includes an interior rearview mirror assembly having a mirror head adjustably mounted at a mounting structure. The mirror head includes a mirror casing and an electro-optic variable reflectance mirror reflective element. A glare light sensor senses glare light emanating from headlights of another vehicle rearward of the equipped vehicle. An ambient light sensor senses ambient light at the vehicle. The ambient light sensor comprises part of a rain sensing device disposed at an in-cabin side of a windshield of the vehicle. Mirror control circuitry is operable to adjust dimming of the mirror reflective element responsive to an output from the glare light sensor and an output from the ambient light sensor. Responsive to the output from the glare light sensor and the output from the ambient light sensor, the mirror control circuitry controls dimming of the mirror reflective element.

Abstract: A vehicular camera module configured for mounting at an exterior portion of a vehicle includes a housing, a camera disposed in the housing, and a transparent cover rotatably mounted at the housing. The camera views through the transparent cover. With the vehicular camera module mounted at the exterior portion of the vehicle, the camera views through the transparent cover in order to capture image data of a scene exterior of the vehicle. With the vehicular camera module mounted at the exterior portion of the vehicle, the transparent cover rotates relative to the camera and the housing at a rotational speed of at least 1,000 rotations per minute to at least partially remove water and/or debris from an outer surface of the transparent cover.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a camera disposed at an exterior portion of a side of a vehicle and viewing at least sideward and rearward of the equipped vehicle. A video display screen is disposed in an interior cabin of the equipped vehicle and displays video images derived from frames of image data captured by the camera. When no other vehicle is detected in another traffic lane, the video display screen displays video images representative of a first portion of the exterior scene viewed by the camera. Responsive to determination that another vehicle is in the other traffic lane and approaching from rearward of the equipped vehicle, the video display screen displays video images representative of a second portion of the exterior scene that includes the determined other vehicle. Responsive to detection of the other vehicle, the video display screen displays a graphic overlay overlaying the displayed video images.

Abstract: A vehicular illumination system includes a ground illumination module disposed at a side door of a vehicle. The ground illumination module includes a reconfigurable display element and at least one light source operable to emit light. When the at least one light source is electrically powered, light emitted by the at least one light source illuminates a ground region adjacent the vehicle. When the at least one light source is electrically powered, light emitted by the at least one light source passes through the reconfigurable display element and the ground illumination module projects an icon established by the reconfigurable display element onto the ground region. The reconfigurable display element is reconfigurable to form the icon responsive to programming of the reconfigurable display element for an icon.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a variable reflectance mirror reflective element suitable for use in a vehicular rearview mirror assembly includes providing a front glass sheet and a plurality of rear glass substrates, and joining and spacing the rear glass substrates at the front glass sheet via perimeter seals. After the rear glass substrates are joined with the front glass sheet, the front glass sheet is cut to form a plurality of front glass substrates. A back plate is attached at the rear side of each of the rear glass substrates. After cutting the front glass sheet, the back plate of the respective rear glass substrate and cut front glass substrate portion is fixtured at a finishing tool, which processes the cut edges of at least the respective front glass substrate to provide a finished perimeter edge of the front glass substrate to form a variable reflectance mirror reflective element.

Abstract: A vehicular window assembly includes a laminated glass window panel comprising an inner glass sheet and an outer glass sheet that are laminated together. A sensing device is disposed between the inner and outer glass sheets and includes a plurality of sensors and a plurality of illumination sources. With the laminated glass window panel disposed at a vehicle and when one or more of said illumination sources are activated, a person viewing the laminated glass window panel from exterior of the vehicle views one or more of a plurality of icons or alphanumeric characters illuminated by light emitted by the activated respective one or more of the illumination sources. With the laminated glass window panel disposed at the vehicle and when the illumination sources are not activated, the sensing device is not readily visible to the person viewing the laminated glass window panel from exterior of the vehicle.
