摘要: Methods and apparatus for automatically generating common paradigms in computer supported telephony applications (CSTA) protocols includes a control interface for CSTA protocols utilizes ActiveX properties, methods, events, and pages. Common paradigms such as Invoke_ID and timers are built in to the interface. The interface further provides statistics and diagnostics via property pages. According to the preferred embodiment, the interface is able to access all of the events and services provided by the CSTA protocols

摘要: A radio frequency (RF) modulated electron gun includes a cathode, electrically coupled to operate as a source of charged particles, and a grid, positioned apart from the cathode. The grid and the cathode are electrically coupled to a grid voltage source and to a RF source. The grid voltage source places the grid at a first potential, and the RF source places the grid at a second potential selected to produce groups of the charged particles. The groups of charged particles are produced with each period of a signal received from the RF source.

摘要: Techniques for enhancing the sound quality of computer telephony systems are provided. In general, digital signals including telephony sounds are converted from the time domain to the frequency domain. If noise is detected in the frequency domain conversion of the digital signals, the noise is removed utilizing a filter. The noise detection and filtering can be performed in software so that enhanced audio quality can be achieved at a relatively low cost and with flexibility for very diverse environments.

摘要: In an automated call management method and system, automated processing is used to collect customer information that enables skills-based call routing and a camp-on approach to efficiently handling calls. The customer information is preferably acquired through use of a web-compatible form that is submitted by the customer. The form includes information that identifies agent attributes that are considered advantageous to handling a particular call, includes the callback telephone number, and may include the time at which the callback should be initiated. In another embodiment, the information is acquired using interactive voice recognition techniques. After an agent queue is selected on the basis of a correlation between identified agent attributes and the skills of a particular agent or agent group, a camp-on request is generated to initiate a connection when an appropriate agent is available.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for forwarding Caller ID data on demand when retrieving messages from an answering device using an endpoint telecommunications device and an associated call control system (such as the central office of the calling phone, a PBX, ToL Gatekeeper, wireless carrier switch, etc.), to fully or partially automate the dialing process for remotely calling back a message sender. The invention permits the caller retrieving messages to quickly and easily return calls with little or no manual intervention, without having to create a trombone connection. The invention operates with calling endpoint telecommunication devices that are nullintelligentnull enough to receive, store and/or utilize Caller ID data forwarded from an answering device; as well as with not so intelligent telecommunications devices (such as many pay phones) that may lack the ability to receive, store and/or utilize forwarded Caller ID data.

摘要: A method and apparatus for remotely updating a portable calendar includes a receiver for receiving a first wireless data transmission which includes a proposed scheduling update to the calendar. A memory provides storage for data comprising the calendar. A display which is responsive to the receiver displays a graphical representation of the calendar and the proposed scheduling update. A user interface, such as a set of keys of a keypad or an alternative input device, is configured to transmit control signals to a processor in response to manipulation of the interface by the user. The processor is connected to the memory to execute a calendar control program and is configured to effect a scheduling update in response to a control signal received from the user interface. A preferred embodiment of the invention provides a transmitter for transmitting a second wireless data transmission in response to the proposed schedule update, the second transmission including either a scheduling update acceptance, a scheduling update rejection, or a rescheduling proposal.

摘要: A transmission system includes a transmission path from a transmitting station to a receiving station for both voice telephone service occupying the frequency spectrum below a predetermined frequency f.sub.1 and for data service occupying the frequency spectrum above another predetermined frequency f.sub.3, where f.sub.3 is substantially higher than f.sub.1, a plurality of telephone sets at said receiving station connected in parallel with one another to the transmission path, and where each of the telephone sets has an on-hook state which presents a substantially infinite resistance to the transmission path and an off-hook state which presents a predetermined resistance R to the transmission path. A plurality of separate and substantially identical multi-pole low-pass filters are provided for connection between the transmission path and respective ones of the telephone sets, where each of the low-pass filters has a -3 dB frequency f.sub.2 which lies between f.sub.1 and f.sub.3, and a characteristic impedance of substantially (n*R), where n is a number equal to at least 2.4, thereby reducing the effect of low impedances that develop at frequencies below f.sub.1 because of resonances that occur between f.sub.1 and f.sub.2 with at least one but less than all of said telephone sets off-hook.

摘要: A system and method enabling a user to remotely access an electronic calendar using a telephone network is provided. The system includes the electronic calendar for storing a plurality of schedules and a scheduler for accessing the schedules as a function of input signals received over the telephone network. Each schedule contains future appointments and events for either daily, weekly or other data interval periods. The scheduler enables selective retrieval and display of the appointments and events for any selected time period. The system is coupled to interfaces allowing the schedule information to be transmitted as audio information, video information, or e-mail information. The scheduler can compare the schedules to one another to automatically generate common meeting times. The common meeting time can then be transmitted to the various attendees using e-mail, audible instructions or voice mail.

摘要: A method and system for exchanging electronic messages, such as email messages, include isolating personal computers and other client devices from the process of converting a message attachment from one file format to a second file format. File-format conversions are out-tasked to enhance file accessibility, free computer resources, and conserve a user's time. The access requirements of each attachment to electronic messages are compared to the capabilities of a target client device. If it is determined that a file-format conversion is required, the conversion operation is assigned to a server that supports the process of reformatting the attachments. In an email environment, the server is substantially equivalent to the conventional email server, but includes enhanced conversion capabilities. In one embodiment, the determination of whether an attachment is accessible without conversion occurs at the server level. In another embodiment, the determination is implemented at the client device level. Preferably, if a local email server is incapable of reformatting the attachment, a request is transmitted to a remote server to perform the conversion. Typically, the remote server is the email server that supports message exchanges for the person who originated the message.

摘要: An apparatus and method are disclosed for connecting a headset alternately to a telephone line and an audio device. The apparatus includes an audio connector for connecting the apparatus to the audio device, a telephone connector for connecting the apparatus to the telephone line, and a headset connector for connecting the apparatus to the headset. The apparatus also includes a switching circuit connected to the audio, telephone and headset connectors. The switching circuit connects the telephone connector to the headset connector in response to sensing a voltage greater than a predetermined threshold on the telephone line. When the voltage sensed returns to a value less than the predetermined threshold value, the switching circuit reconnects the headset connector to the audio connector.
