Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses are described that implement a high-fidelity radar simulator that performs operations associated with a radar system's hardware and/or software. The radar simulator can account for non-ideal characteristics within the radar system or environment and have an ability to process data from a variety of electromagnetic (EM) simulators. By using the radar simulator, an EM simulator can operate without specific information regarding the radar system's antenna response or signal generation. In this manner, the EM simulator can be decoupled from the radar system's design and operational configuration. Furthermore, the radar simulator can use the same environmental response data generated by the EM simulator to estimate performances of multiple radar systems. Use of the high-fidelity radar simulator enables problems to be efficiently discovered during design, integration, and testing phases of the radar system prior to performing a live test.

Abstract: A heating device includes a housing, a primary induction coil, a controller circuit, and a secondary induction coil. The housing is configured to retain a camera lens. The primary induction coil is positioned proximate the housing and configured to generate a magnetic field in response to receiving electrical power from a power supply. The controller circuit is in electrical contact with the primary induction coil and is configured to control the electrical power delivered to the primary induction coil. The secondary induction coil overlays the primary induction coil and is configured to receive the magnetic field from the primary induction coil and generate heat. The secondary induction coil heats the camera lens when the primary induction coil receives the electrical power.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes database systems and methods for retrieving data therefrom. In aspects, database system includes a binary storage component having a plurality of binary elements. Each binary element of the plurality of binary elements includes a first plurality of data fields ordered according to a binary data storage framework. The database system further includes a metadata component having a plurality of metadata elements. Each metadata element of the plurality of metadata elements includes a second plurality of data fields and a reference to at least one binary element. The metadata component may be configured to order the second plurality of data fields in each metadata element according to a metadata storage framework. The database system further includes an intermediate layer configured to adapt the binary data storage framework of the binary elements to the metadata storage framework of the metadata component.

Abstract: A light detection and ranging (LIDAR) device having a sensor for detecting input signals and an emitter for emitting output signals. A controller controls the emitter to emit output signals and reads the input signals from the sensor during a plurality of scan cycles. Each scan cycle is separated by a spacer period, and the controller is configured to vary the length of the spacer periods between the plurality of scan cycles. The LIDAR device may form part of a LIDAR system. Methods for reducing interference in a LIDAR system, and methods and software for controlling a LIDAR device are also disclosed.

Abstract: Methods, devices, systems, and computer program products for estimating object reflectivity in a light detection and ranging (LIDAR) system are disclosed. The method, for example, includes receiving LIDAR data for a plurality of LIDAR scan cycles. The method also includes generating a dataset from the LIDAR data by accumulating the recorded return signals over the plurality of scan cycles. A data feature associated with an object is identified in the dataset, and one or more parameters of the data feature are identified. An estimated reflectivity of the object may then be determined based on the one or more parameters.

Abstract: The techniques and systems herein enable ESA modification based on manual steering inputs. Specifically, a score is determined for a manual steering input to a host vehicle while an ESA is actively applying an ESA steering input to the host vehicle. The score quantifies an amount of additional steering input relative to the ESA steering input (e.g. additional steering angle, steering wheel torque). The ESA steering input is maintained, modified, or canceled based on the score. By doing so, the system is able to effectively adapt the ESA to the manual steering inputs thereby allowing for effective collision mitigation while ensuring that the vehicles operate as intended by the drivers.
